As I understand it, the rules try to make the heroes out to be unique within the game. You can only ever have a single unit of each individual hero on the board. However, this weekend I was playing Blue Thunder scenario 4 - Counterattack, and an issue came up: When adding the reinforcements to the board, can I reutilize a hero that was previously killed in an earlier round? The rules say nothing against that, stating that any units that were previously eliminated can re-enter the board as reinforcements. However, that kinda breaks the reality of the heroes being unique individuals, if a copy of them can enter the battle to replace them when they die. In a similar situation, a Medic cannot use his ability to bring a hero back from the dead....
The uniqueness of heroes

Cmon, Loophole, what comics have you been reading? Heroes never die, that Bazooka Joe you thought you killed earlier crawled to safety and then returned to lead his unit to victory in the closing seconds of the battle!
Hummm... yeah, it makes sense in that comic booky sort of way. But then why can't the Medic use his ability to revive a hero, so he can save the day in the final act?
Favorite line sums it all up. I Got Shot In The Buttocks!. - Gump
Well I always err on the side of exclusion, i.e. if there is no rule against it then go ahaead.
Also even if a hero dies this game, he'll probably be back the next, so why not use him a a reinforcment. If there really is no rule against is of course.
As for the medic thing, that just doesn't make sense to me, but rules are rules.
When we have played scenario #4 from Operation Blue Thunder I read the scenario numerous times to make sure we were doing things correctly and saw no restriction agains using a deceased hero as a reenforcement. I think it is legal - as a matter of fact, I am still trying to see where the rules specify you can only use one copy of a particular hero as long as they are not attached to the same squad. It may be in there somewhere, but I have not found it. If you know where it is, please let me know what page/section/paragraph you see it in.
Thanks.

It doesn´t say anywhere in the core rules that one can only have one copy of a hero on the board... the only place where you have that rule is on the tournament rules. I play the game with the heroes being unique on the board since they represent characters and not a type of unit/squad.
