Hesh-Pattern Boltgun

By Jeler, in Deathwatch Rules Questions

Hello,

In the description of this boltgun states it is a Master Crafted Weapon (as corrected in DW Errata), but then it seems to deal the same damage as a common boltgun. Does this mean it really does -2 damage? Would thought so, as the description says bonusus for craftmanship are taken into account, but... then the weapon is Reliable, whereas Master Craftmanship grants never-happening jammig... Which are, then, the real stats of the HP Boltgun?

Thanks in advance.

I asked exactly that question (and also about it's half range) and was told officially that the stats were accurate. Go figure!

Ummm... so what did you do? Use the stats as written?

Well the description does state that it is smaller and more compact than a normal bolter, but it still uses standard ammunition. I don't know if there's a really good in-universe way of justifying that, and it is strange that the Reliable rule is there, given the weapon's Master Craftsmanship (unless the Errata meant to remove that rule while stating the weapon was Master Crafted).

In game terms, it is not only a bolter with Accurate, but also outside the normal requisition system, so while strange to read, it's at least not disruptive or confusing to game balance, so using the rules as written should be fine, I'd think.

Thank you for your replies, Orthus, Uriel.

On this note, What about the Skapulan Bolter? its original stats are 2d10+9 but it seems to have been left out of the Errata so...? I've assumed its been reduced by a d10 as well but was curious, as I've not seen a post about it anywhere else.

Bothe Hesh Pattern and Skapulan bolter seem to be rather similar in traits. Have not seen the Skapulan bolter in the errata. So if it hasn't received an errata, it should still be the same right?

Personally, I'd calculate the difference in damage between a Skapulan Bolter and a pre-errata "ordinary" Master-Crafter Boltgun, and add that to the damage of a post-errata'ed Master-Crafter Boltgun. But officially, no change yet.

There was an official answer in another thread that said that all relic stats remain unchanged.

They didn't reduce RoF on a full auto RoF 12 weapon? Really?!

I can't believe that's actually intended.

Iit's very likely just an incomplete set of optional stats.

Alex

until it's fixed/revised we're going with the rule of " if it's a relic and not listed in the current Errata then it remains unchanged unless evidence is brought to the table specifying otherwise" I may suggest the full auto rate is 10 as opposed to 12(which is an absurd number of rounds for 6 seconds of a players turn).

Well 12 is just too good. 10 puts it close to the pre-errata heavy bolter, which is sufficiently strong to be a relic.
