CMD test to resist Fear-caused cohesion damage?

By Kugruk, in Deathwatch Rules Questions

Hello all! FIrst I want to thank you all for the help that has been provided on these forums. I've come a couple times and it's usually cleared up some very interesting issues.

Anyway, I'm a new DM and a player and I were discussing how the fear rules work with the cmd test to resist cohesion damage. I guess I'll keep it simple, after the kill team leader has failed his WP roll to resist the fear effect while the team is in squad mode, can he then take the CMD test to resist cohesion damage? I was under the impression the CMD test was to resist cohesion damage from certain damage/weapon types and from taking 10+ damage. But, the fear rules are worded in such a way that it might be possible to take a second test to just negate the cohesion damage from fear altogether.

Personnaly, I don't think it should apply with cohesion loss from fear. The command test for cohesion damage is the leader bolstering his men, keeping them focused. I don't think its appropriate he should be able to do that after he's fumbled or appeared disturbed by the enemies frightening aspect.

Besides the CMD test is a save of sorts for cohesion damage. The leader fear-check is the same. Both are attempts to keep the marines at peek fighting ability in the face of very dangerous circumstances. They are just two different tests for different circumstances. Why a leader should get a second save, after he's personally failed the first (in front of the men he's leading no less), is hard to swallow.

Thats the impression I was under as well. I just wanted to make sure that it was the correct one :P . I just wanted to see what others thought, or if we had missed some vital information along the way. We're all still pretty new to the game.
