Obliterator Stats

By Maelflux, in Deathwatch Rules Questions

I am confused about the Obliterator stats from Mark of the Xenos. It seems to me as if the damage for the melee weapons are wrongly calculated?! Either that, or I just can't figure out how they got to that number..

Anyone that can help clarify it?

PS: I don't have the book right here, but I can post the weapon/characteristics for it, when I get near the book a bit later today.

It seems to me that when an enemy is printed in DW the str bonus is already included in the damage, that confuses me as well. As for the oblitorator stats.....without the extra 7 dmg my Techmarine pc will never be touched.

Ok, here are the stats:

Strength 50 (10) [unnatural Strength (x2)]

Power Fist Damage: 2d10+22 Pen 9

It seems as if they have doubled the strength, instead of adding an extra multiplier, and then added +2 for armor (which also is a tad odd, as it would be terminator Armor to begin with, no?)

As for whether the damage is needed to hurt a Tech-Marine, I still find 2d10+18 Pen 9 fairly dangerous, as it would average 38 damage including Pen, which would hurt a "standard marine" with almost 20 damage a hit. But I just wondered if anyone knew why the stats were like this, as it follows the previous Obliterator we have seen, and I hoped there would be a fix or a description of why here in MotX.

Without having read much of TEP, shouldn't obliterators be elites and thus at least GM-dependent candidates for righteous fury?

I haven't read MotX, but such mistakes happen a lot. I got a laugh the first time I read the Chaos Space Marine profile in the main book. Apart from mistakes like damage, the poor guys have Killing Strike but lack the Fate Points to use it.
