WFRP3 and the iPad

By New Zombie, in WFRP Gamemasters

hey there,

i recently bought my wife an iPad so she would have an easier time accessing the internet in the wee hours when she nurses our son. i was wondering if anyone was using an iPad as a GM tool for WFRP3 and if so how they where doing it.

Luckily I use my iPad a TON for work, but lately I've only been using our iPad to deliver graphical data to players in some form or another (maps, handouts, etc). For WFRP 3rd edition it would be super sweet to have a cool looking app that took advantage of the extra screen realestate to set up multiple progress & wound trackers and slide the progress markers with a simple brush of a finger. I wish I had the kind of chops to do something like that. It'd reduce a bit of table gear fiddling, and paper scribbling.

I've been thinking about getting an iPad - does anyone use the WFRP toolkit (really dice kit) on it and how do they find that?

I use the toolkit on my iPod, and it's great- I can assemble dice pools faster with a couple swipes, and if I'm really multi-tasking, I can ask it to just tally all the results for me with a quick breakdown just by tapping: like "3 hammer , 2 sword, 3 boons, and 1 bane, plus 1 fatigue," for example.

Great when you're narrating, making up stuff on the fly, and running combat all at once. :P

I use the iphone 4 version of the dice app and it's nice. My players don't like me using it saying it always turns out in favor for me but I do use it from time to time when the dice are far away.

But a character sheet! For iPad! would be amazing - with combat tracker and everything. Make all the game digital! Except for the dice apparently.

I would buy an iPad just for that.

Roy.
