[Session Report] 3.9: You Really Should Get Someone To Have A Look At That … (MAJOR SPOILAGE)

The Gathering Storm finally comes to a close! For the last episode, check out my WFRP game diary.

so how did you and your players feel about the conclusion of TGS, i recall you being worried about the players' instant distrust of the celestial wizard.

Grudge the dwarf distrusted him right from the start, but in the end they saw no other way than to have Schulmann put the pieces together. They tried to trick him to go retrieve the buried piece himself, but he didn't, and they watched him carefully when he put the last piece in place. However I'd made sure I'd referred to a telescope he'd set up in the crypt (S moved his things to the crypt when the players decided to keep the pieces there) which poked out through a street level grate; and all he had to do was look through it to activate his Swiftwing spell and escape.

The other thing I changed was to make the Nexus energy reverse when S was killed, sucking things into it, and thus justifying the comet a bit better than the 'I happen to have an amulet ehich brings down comets' bit.

Oh, and I certainly didn't bother with Power when he was in the Nexus, I just had him cast any spells he wanted to.

It went well; a relatively quick and dramatic end to the campaign. I still think that the writers missed a lot of opportunities in Stromdorf for interesting scenes - the murder of Adler's lover, for example, that could have been better developed - but it was a fun module and my players like a good bash.
