I am not sure if this has been brought up before and I can't seem to find anything to reference in past post on here but...
Recently in our campaign, a player started using a flamer for the first time and used it on a horde. According to the rules, when a flamer is used on a horde it does 1 hit per 5 meters of range (sorry, going off the top of my head here, at work and don't have my book with me) plus an additional 1d5 hits against the horde's magnitude.
Now the question is - do these hits apply against the horde's armor and toughtness first before damaging its magnitude or are the hits directly affecting the magnitude ignoring armor and toughtness? The confusion comes from the fact that the description for flamers in the book says hits, where as for regular damage, you roll damage, take off the armor and toughness (if they apply) and if any get through, a hit is applied (plus any other mods like explosive or a trait).
Thank you for your time.
