Is this game for:

1) people who don't own an Xbox

2) think the Xbox version is too fast

3) Never heard of Gears of War?

Is this similar to reading a book version of a movie?

I'm sure it will have something to offer that the video game doesn't and I've played the game and enjoyed it but I'm sure I'll like playing the board game more. For me playing board games will always be more fun then playing video games.

FFG's past efforts to convert video games into board games have typically been very well done, IMHO. Doom captured the suspense of the video games quite nicely. Starcraft perfectly emulated the chaotic nature of combat in the RTS game, despite having a wildly different scope and layout, by necessity. These guys have proven themselves competent at this sort of thing, so I would be surprised if Gears failed to live up to the video games in terms of atmopshere and excitement.

There are certainly sh*tty knock-off games out there based on all manner of recognized licenses (the Dexter board game strikes me as a terrible disappointment, for example), but FFG is not one of THOSE game companies.

It's for people who like playing board games, not video games (so I guess you were half-way right with point #1).

I've never played Gears of War, but there are two things that will make me pick this up. Corey K. and co-op. Lately, game companies will get me to try anything co-op or team (like BSG). I have yet to play a CK game that I haven't enjoyed, so I'm really looking forward to what this game has to offer.

Agreed!

Not to forget about World of Warcraft : The board game.

The way they designed how to customize the characters was really well done! i am a bit curious how it will work out here :)

They have done it before, and my guts say they will do it again!

Yeah I really hope the put carmine in their as well! I love playing as him,but im afraid they would make his special ability "bullet magnet"

or he could just be like a escort peice that is generic for use in some missions
