Reactions used for attacks/move

By Jeler, in Deathwatch Rules Questions

Hi to everyone.

I have been searching through the forums, but couldn't find an answer for this. How are reactions treated when used with tactics such as Fire for Effect or Squad Advance? Do they have to be used in reaction to something? If yes, to what? Or could you just use the reaction whenever you want? Even during your own turn?

Thank you in advance.

That's correct.

Thank you. That leads me to another question:

As I am not allowed to repeat the same action in any given turn, given that Fire for Effect is active and we are rank 4, I could:

-Deliver a single shot and then an auto-burst (semi or full).

-Deliver an auto-burst (semi or full) and then a single shot.

But I could not:

-Deliver a burst (semi or full) and then another burst.

-Deliver a single shot and then another single shot.

That last one is what leads me to ask... WTF??!!

The Squad mode abilities overwrite and ignore the normal restrictions for repeating actions. So you can use fire for effect (or indeed bolter assault, sustained suppression, et al) in conjunction with a full-auto burst or other attack in your turn. Marines are so cool, they can ignore the rules!

Thank you again, that solves our problem.
