Agreed. The GM screen is terrible (plus it's in portrait format so it hides the GM!). It was obviously made in a hurry and without any thought (probably by the graphic designer who doesn't actually play the game or something like that..judging by the inane mess that it is.

I have found about 60% of the info on the regular GM's screen completely useless. I simply lay it flat next to my stuff and have stuck charts that we GMs ACTUALLY use on there.

Some notes on the pix below:

  • I picked up several sets of extra dice. It's enough where every player can have a set (5 players).
  • I use Easy Readers to hold up my GM info with a couple clamps to keep the paperbacks open
  • I still use a lot of 3d stuff (there's a herdstone on there as well as walls to the THunderwater Inn during the encounter there...)
  • I keep all my cards in a binder to find them more easily
  • The PARTY SHEET is in an upright stand. The red strip has the tracker with a little red clothspin and the top can hold Fortune point cards and socketed talents
  • Notice the Player's GUide to Stromdorf in use :)
  • I cut out some long and extreme range markers (cardstock..after Uhead's idea) and marked them with 1,2 or 1,2,3 range notches as appropriate.
  • Here's the rest of the game room: www.youtube.com/user/Emirikol7
  • the date stamp is not correct on the bottom :)

For the easiest custom GM screens pick up a trifold presentation folder or snag one of the Savage Worlds customizable screens (that's what I use). You will never buy a GM screen again (unless you like the art). Then you just fill the pockets with things you like (custm GM screens on the net, tables you make, etc). The best part about the Savage Worlds screen is that it is double sided so you can put player reference material useable by the PC's as well....or print out some art you like and make a sexy screen.

*Aside* Emirikol do you have to sit in your chair at the beginning of the session and have your players pile everything on top of you like squires assisting you with GM armor until you are just a stern GM face poking out the top? lol, jk. Cool set up btw...I am usually exiled out of my house to play so I don't get to have a game room.

Yea, I was going to mention the savage worlds set up. Saw a guy using that simple set up at the last convention I was at. Now to get a tri-fold. I'll probably just hang any other relevant info on the front of the easy reader though.

Yea, I do have a lot of crap..and I'm pretty tall, so the official crappy GM screen shouldn't bother me, but it even bothers ME!

I've got a dedicated game room in the basement. I never had the right sized table so i simply bought a hardwood sheet of smooth plywood and varnished it. It doubles as a ping-pong table for the kids :)

Here are the inserts I use with customizable screen mentioned above. I recently revised them to add armor and weapons.

You might find them useful ...

Awesome screen Gully Foyle. Consider it yoinked!

Found one typo (Unreliable should have had a "less than" rather than a "greater than" sign in its description) ...

Here is the corrected one, feel free to yoink.
