Pirate Career Card

By Lautrer, in WFRP House Rules

Hi !

I made a Pirate Career Card. At home I use the original Layout but because it is not allowed in public I made another one with SE plugin for you.

Just use it as it or use it as a template for your own version.

Pirate Career Card

And the Career Talent Card I use:

I find it interesting that you gave them ballistics over weapon skill and set it to human and dwarf. Dwarfs aren't classically known as seafaring in WFRP. Human's and High Elves on the other hand are pretty common. Also can't see the talent card you posted, well I can see it, just not at a scale that's readable.

Ok. To see the whole cards right klick mouse and "show grafic" or save it.

I set if for Human and Dwarf because I thought there are no High Elf Raiders (maybe I'm wrong) there are Dark Elf Pirates and those are known as Corsairs, it's a different career. I read a book or article a couple of years where a really big Dwarf Pirate ship has been described. So I allowed it also for Dwarves. Maybe I set it for High Elves, too.

At first I gave the Pirate the weapon skill but I reconsidered and took ballistic skill (pistols, crossbows, cannons are more important for sea pirates).

And if something is not right for you, just take the grafic and redesign it. Or you can ask me to make another one, if I have the time and the mood I will create it for you. gui%C3%B1o.gif

Dwarfs ARE actually a classic Warhammer seafaring race. They should have an engineering skill however as they run the steam engines of the sea. Pages 43-47 of the MAN O WAR rules cover them very clearly. Their ships include Monitors, Ironclads and the Nautilis. The nautilis made an apperance in a wfrp1 scenario (I believe Eureka). Just as on land, they use steam. Here's their main man o war entry: " Dwarfs are masters of steam technology and metalworking and their fleets reflect this. Their ships ar emassive armoured craft covered in baroque and intricate wrought ironwork. Crewed by highly trained sailors and very skilled engineers, each Dwarf ship carries many spare parts for carrying out field repairs, making them virtually unsinkable. Sea Dwarfs are not common in teh Old World, but their technological prowess more than makes up for their lack fo numbers. Before he is allowed to command a ship, a Dwarf captain must prove himself skilled in engineering as well as battle."

You should thoroughly review the MAN O WAR rules, WFRP2e careers, as well as Shades of Empire "Imperial Navy" for more information.

You may also find THE LONE WOLF scenario handy after reading up on LIBER INFECTUS and MAN O WAR. gallery.rptools.net/v/contrib/emirikol7/ The scenario takes place aboard an Imperial Wolf Ship in Marienburg or a Nordland harbor.

The Warhammer novel, FELL CARGO, covers some antics by pirates down in Tilea.

Enjoy!

Lau, you should REALLY consider putting the Pirate up for entry in LIBER FANATICA #8. Their topic is on the 'criminal element' and this would make a great 1 page write up. liberfanatica.net/phpBB3/index.php

Ok. I'll post it tonight.

Now I'm going to play my Gambler, we have a WH3 Session today. gran_risa.gif

So. The new version of the Pirate.

Changed the Trait Specialist into Rogue.

Now the Career has only 1 Wound Advance and 2 Action Advances:

Lau:

You need to add elves, as they are a major seafaring race (although you could limit the 'pirate' to the druchii instead).
