Force weapon requisition

By Doyle2, in Deathwatch Rules Questions

Alright, I noticed soemthing a little odd the other day. To obtain a Force Weapon you apprently need a renown of Respected or higher... yet a starting Libraian is given one as standard issue equipment regardless of their renown. Have I missed something or is this the way it's meant to be? If so why is the Deathwatch Epistolary advance specilization listed as having a Force weapon as part of it's standard wargear in addition to what I Libraian is already issued? Does he get two force weapons at that point?

I noticed that I while back it might just be left over from thoughts they had before hand. I know Happy Daze posted in the Errta thread about the second part and the ruling was the Epist lose the force weapon.

So a standard Librian always has a Force Weapon as standard issue despite a higher then starting renown cost to get one? And the Epist just gets the Psychic Hood added to his standard issue?

Yes, to both. Truthfully just disreguard the renown cost since they are the only ones that can fully use a force weapon anyway.

I suppose you might conceivably want to dual-wield Force Swords?

Or it might be for getting better quality ones.

The reknown is for inside the Deathwatch. All "starter equipment" is from the marines past, and according to the past history tables, all characters have been through some rough times, so he must have been awarded with one.

Or your librarian can have a force stuff for "casting" and a force sword for melee... like the picture of the epistolary in the Rites of Battle book

The only thing I miss is the Force Axe.
