So my group decided to try out warhammer fantasy. Well we liked it alot, and have decided to continue with it. I have decided to post the adventures of my group to show how my group tackles the problems and threats of the old world. My group has 3 players, with 2 others that have yet to deccide if they want to join in or not. Character Creation took an hour and a half, and we then played through their first adventure. As the title says, my players chose the brash young fool party sheet. So here we go.
Player Characters so far:
Finneas Dietrich; male human peddler: a traveller and seller of various and mysterious trinkets
Kael Dien; male human agitator: son of a wealthy individual, and has no problem spending the money that isn't his
Aesian Wavestrider; male high elf sword-master: from a seafaring family (jokingly called sea-elves in Ulthuan) an envoy from his family to establish relations with noble human families
Session 1: A day late, a shilling short
Finneas, Kael, and Aesian, having come across each other in their travels, have arrived at the Red Moon Inn in Ubersreik at the behest of Birgitta Tageslicht (a roadwarden). She informs the trio that she is awaiting her partner, Rutger Abend- a fellow roadwarden, on a coach bound from Marienburg and is a full day late. Also the coach has a package that is to be delivered to Vaerun, a high elf envoy of Ulthuan, which he is eagerly awaiting. She hopes the coach is just delayed, but has acquired the services of the trio just in case. The trio decides to waste no time and they head out immediately.
After travelling on the road for three hours, the trio come upon a terrible sight! The coach is halted on the side of the road. Its front axle broken, and the horses dead in their harnesses, impaled by spears. The coach driver lying dead in the road. Savage looking half man-half anmial creatures are ransacking the coach and all its cargo. Also a larger more muscular half man-half animal is attacking the surviving coachman, who is Rutger Abend!
Finneas decides to use folklore to see if he has heard of these creatures before. He recognises that they are beastman, being ungors and a gor respectively. The beastmen spot the trio, but trip over all the cargo that they were ransacking. The battle is on!!! Aesian lets loose an arrow, and burys it deep into an ungor, but does not slay it. Kael decides to loose an arrow at the gor, but burys his arrow into the coach! Finneas decides to help out Aesian and fires his crossbow, but it malfunctions and his bolt flys into the trees. The ungors recover from their tripping. Aesian moves in and cuts down an ungor with speed and finesse the likes that have not been seen. Kael burys an arrow into an ungor, and Finneas finishes it off with his longsword. The trio realize that Rutger Abend doesn't have much longer, and rush to assist him. Aesian rushes severely cuts into the gor, which iis finished off by Kael, and Finneas takes out the remaining ungor.
Rutger Abend heartedly thanks the trio for coming to his aid as he feared he would have been killed shortly. Finneas tends to Rutgers wounds, as he informs the trio that "that blasted merchant just stayed in the coach" as there came under attack. He informs them that they heard a warhorn, then moments later were set upon by the beastmen. Aesian pounds on the coach to get the merchants attention. Aesian gets straight to the point and asks the merchant for the package. Klaus von Rothstein(the merchant), denies that he has a package, and accuses the trio of being nothing but well armed brigands, and are trying to rob him. Aesian feeling that he is being dishonored goes for his sword. Before he can even draw his sword, Kael decides to talk it out with Klaus, by explaining that he would have met a fell end by the beastmen's hands if the trio didn't arrive the save the day. (he also sent some silver schillings Klaus' way to ease nerves!) The trio become aware that a thunderstorm is on the way, and with Kael doing the talking, convinces Klaus to gather up all the most valueable cargo that is salvageable and to head out, so none are caught out in the storm, or on the road at night. As the group leaves they hear a warhorn being sounded.
An hour or so of treking it, the group comes upon a group of Beastmen, this time with a wargor searching the road. Finneas trys to see if he can determine what the beastmen may be looking for, but only recalls that the gor that was killed hav a warhorn on it. The beastmen get a scent, and the battle is on!!!
Aesian charges right away and severely cuts an ungor, but does not slay it. The ungors try to gang up on Aesian, but being undisciplined it is easy for Aesian to dodge their attacks. Finneas fires his crossbow, but again it malfunctions and flys wide off the mark. Kael fires his bow and kills an ungor. Aesian attacks again and inflicts more damage to an ungor, and knocks it from its feet, but doesn't slay it. Finneas seeing an opportunity, runs his longsword through the ungor on the ground. The wargor being furious lets out a terrifying bestial howl. For a moment it seems that it bothers Aesian, and Finneas, but they recover quickly. Kael fires his bow at the wargor, but only scratches him. Aesian, and Finneas finish off the last ungor, which only leaves the wargor left. The wargor charges Aesian, and strikes a blow, but Aesian's training allows him to take less of the impact, and stays on his feet. Finneas thrusts his logsword at the wargor and misses, but also maneuvores himself behind the wargor. Kael fires his bow again, and again only scratches the wargor. Aesian solidly connects, and the wargor is taken aback by how powerful te attack was! The wargor returns the blow in kind, but again Aesian remains on his feet, but looks worse for wear. Finneas and Kael both strike solid blows on the wargor, and the wargor is slain!!!
After the battle, Kael tries to get Klaus to allow someone who can protect the package, should carry it, and that also their pay needs to increase due to "hazard pay". Klaus agrees to increase their pay, but doesn't give up the package, as it is too important!! With that the group treks back to Ubersreik in the thunderstorm, but arrive at last. They all make their way to the Red Moon Inn, and retire for the evening.
The next day, the trio come to the common room to find that Rutger and Birgitta were arguing with Klaus. The trio receive their pay as promised, and that the roadwardens will not forget them for what they have done. Finneas pays a visit to the local hospice of Shallya to tend to grievious wounds. Kael looks around town, and starts to document the temples of Ubersreik. Aesian decides to site see in Ubersreik to get a feel of the town. The trio meet back at the Red Moon Inn, and retire for the evening, feeling good with a job well completed, and seeing what tomorrow will bring!
with that session 1 ends. i plan on posting regularly when we play, which is on average once a month. stay tuned as the brash young fools start their next adventure in the old world!!!
