dwarf pregnancy duration?

By drathe, in WFRP Gamemasters

yeah, i know how it sounds but, well, this session a dwarf female character in my adventure decided that she really wanted to 'bed' a certain dwarf npc and after failing a couple of toughness tests she became pregnant, although this is unknown to her.

so, does anyone know how long such a thing lasts?

Hmm... I'm not sure about the logic that leads to pregnancy from not being tough, but still...

I think dwarves live about 3 times as long as humans, so I would estimate that pregnancies last a similar length of time. Perhaps twice as long? Certainly not less than a human pregnancy.

I don't know if this questions has ever been answered officially.

well i needed something to decide upon, so a toughness roll was a closest thing to it. despite the attribute name i reasoned it concerned all 'internal' matters. but this is not important now.

hm, during random googling i came across a figure of 5 years and a friend mentioned that he read 'somewhere' that it indeed took so long for the dwarven race to give birth. which kind of makes sense if we take into account whole dwarven sentiment.

any more thoughts on this?

Tolkien Khazad dwarves pregnancy time is 13 months

Five years seems way too long. Elephants and blue whales have a long gestation period because the offspring needs to be big and reasonably developed for it to survive.

You can shorten the pregnancy time of a dwarf a few weeks if you put a horn of beer in front of the dwarf mama's belly nad don't let the dwarfen mama drink it.
