Apothecary Special Ability and Narthecium

By qcipher, in Deathwatch Rules Questions

The Narthecium doubles the amount of damage healed on a First Aid roll, does it also double the 1d5 damage that an Apothecary can heal if they took that specialty ability? So +2d5 instead of +1d5?

On a Heavily Wounded marine would a succesful First Aid roll with a Narthecium heal 2 Wounds?

On a similar note does that +1d5 get added when doing First Aid on a Heavily wounded marine (I know it doesn't remove Critical Damage)? So 1+1d5? or 2+1d5? or 2+2d5?

Thanks for any info. The Errata cleared up the problem with unhealed damage after First Aid was done, but I still had questions.

As a general rule addition is done after multiplication. I dont think you will find this written anywhere but I think it is true in most cases.

so I would say double +1d5

I would also say yes the narthecium and apothecary ability can be applied to heavily wounded characters for 2+1d5. I see no reason why not. although I can't say I have ever had a case of a marine being heavily wounded but I play that TB of a marine is 8 (usually) so the threshold for heavy damage is 3*8 = 24. its hard to take that much damage and not be critically wounded. Having said that a few days ago there was a thread with people discussing whether that was what the rules actually meant

The official ruling is that the +1d5 is after doubling, so you heal (2 x Intelligence Bonus) + 1d5.

As far as I understand it, yes, you would heal 2 wounds on a heavily wounded character. We have also been playing it (and it is the only way I can see to read it) that you still then heal the full 1d5 extra on top.
