I am familiar with how the rules work for fear within deathwatch.

my questions is, if someone who is leading the group is fearless, does he automatically pass "and they shall know no fear" test for the group, effectively making everyone fearless? or does he just get a bonus to his WP on the test? cant find this anywhere.

Kind of: it just means the squad would lose no cohesion due to fear while in squad mode (which is the normal result) because the leader would automatically be considered to have passed all fear tests. If the memebers of the squad are in solo mode, they're on their own.
