First thoughts of The Witch's Song (spoilers)

By Windupboy, in WFRP Gamemasters

So, has anyone started running this adventure? After reading through it my first impressions are those of an excellent story with many interesting choices and would love to hear other GMs opinions.

One thing I found confusing thoung is the mentioning of the Eidelbroek family (both on the commonfolk card and at the start of chapter four where they are hanged by Krieger for "Harbouring a mutant). I can't fing any mentioning of this family anywhere else in the adventure.

Sorry for the off topic request, but is there any chance you could give me a synopsis of the story, as my copy wont arrive until monday or tuesday according to my flags...

Many thanks Crimsonsun

I want to know if it includes creature cards like the ones the Vault had for the previously printed adventures.

According to another thread it contains new creatures cards for all new adversaries.. Im still waiting for my copy my flags has said friday now... so long to wait... give me spoilers...

Hehe, you have to hang in there, it'll get to you in time.

But yeah, there are creature cards (and no stats at all in the actual book, so everything is on the cards which works just fine.)

The adventure also makes good use of faction cards, almost like those in EoN. Whom you actually ally with is very much up to the players, which makes the power balance interesting. The cards and notes makes it really ease to track influence with the different groups.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the actual story and the few blank spots (as in the family I mentioned above) when you get the material.

Until then

Only have until tomorrow to wait now, i think im going to camp outside my flags waiting for it! I will let you know my thoughts on the overall story when I get it, im really looking forward to it.. setting sounds perfect for what I like, I'm hoping its more investigation based than combat as I am going to heavily edit TGS before I run it as I have always prefered more roleplaying to less combat crunch in my games, mainly because the groups I play with are all english, and drama graduates and im the only one who is any good at maths, so they dont create characters that are hugely effective in combat but they give me LOADS to work from in backstory etc so I always try to keep combat down to when its totally required, trying to keep it to one maybe two combats in a 8-10 hour session.

Off Topic.. Makes me think back to playing the TTT in second edition, chapter two which I know alot of people didnt like, but my players responed so well to having to get on the case of the missing chicken it still makes me laugh now.. they tried buying the woman a new chicken but she could see the difference, and when we got to the end of the chapter where they face the blood dragon and five strigory they thought the writers had been smoking something they shouldnt the looks on there faces was golden.. it didnt help that all the npc's that went down with them failed there fear tests and froze to the spot in terror, so instead of organising a retreat the just stood there with urin pooling at there feet... lol

Anyways I will report back when ive read it, and look into the family thing you mentioned in your above post.

I finally got my copy today and have read it cover to cover already (still no creature guide, so I still dont have a clue what about five or six of the traits do!!) I spent about five mins looking for the that family then remembered this thread.. they simply not mentioned until chapter four, but it shouldnt be too hard to bring them in.

Another thing.. the toad item card.. whats that for?? very cool and all that but i assumed it would be linked to someone?

As for the witches songs overall I really like it, was suprised in a good way by the alternate party sheet... Id like to see more things like that creep in with future expansions.. as for the adventure its self I think it is very solid. looks to work with and a very different approach. Im looking forward to running it.
