Grettings fourms goers quick question. I am a librarian of the blood angel chapter. For my power armor history i was able to pick darkness be thy friend. Upon picking it i was informed that the fear willpower save is only triggered and rolled when someone enters melee combat with me and is not triggered at range.

I told my Dm that i may be interested in picking up the psyker power fear the darkness and in my interpertation the dm would be rolling 4 fear rating 1 checks (4 players), he said that instead of rolling 4 he would only roll 1 at the highest fear level which he said was one. He said that my fear rating for melee is 2 cuz of my armor but 1 for ranged.

I then brought up that my "melee fear rating of 2" would NEVER be used since enemies will always see me first and thus must make a fear rating 1 check then if successful they are no longer be afraid of me and thus would not have to roll a fear rating 2 check.

How is a fear the darkness / darkness be thy friend librarian handled?

I would assume that if they pass the fear 1 at range, they would then have to pass another fear test upon closing into melee (at fear 2 difficulty), as the fear rating is changing (and thus should be tested against).
