Hi all. My local group is going to have an apothecary and a librarian in it, and I just wanted some clarification on the color schemes in Deathwatch. I know the marines paint their armor black as part of the ceremony, but does that apply to apothecaries and librarians as well? Would they be wearing black, or would they default to their codex colors of white and blue, respectively?

If you look at the pictures of Marines that are on each of the first pages of the specialities, it shows you what they look like.

Basically:

1) Tech Priests are in Deathwatch colours other than their helmet, backpack and right kneepad, which are red;

2) Librarians are in Deathwatch colours other than their helmet, backpack and right kneepad, which are blue; and

3) Apothecaries are in Deathwatch colours, other than their helmet, backpack and right kneepad, which are white.

Millandson nailed it, although I do not paint the backpacks in role colors. Although if you are in the newer armor you do not have a kneepad since it is a solid greave (even though I prefer the knee pad armor myself). So usually the helmet is your designator.

I think the DW's color scheme is money. I altered it some to add some color to the regular guys.

I added some red to the back pack and added more Red to the Techmarine than canon would show but I like the look.

One of the guys in my group argued about whether the marines were actually black or not in the DW book. for like 20 minutes.

To what purpose I will never know.
