Breaking a Horde and From Beyond

By TechVoid, in Deathwatch Rules Questions

Greetings Fellow Brothers,

the core rules say that a Horde composed of enemies with the Fearless talent do not break.

Now the description of the trait From Beyond grants immunity to Fear.

So can I guess that a Horde composed of enemies with the From Beyond trait also do not break?

Cheers,

TechVoid.

You could and you'd probably be right.

Although there's something to be said for making the WP checks for stuff From Beyond as normal and having it destroyed by Instability if it fails one, which kinda fits well with the setting.

Being immune to Fear is the same as being Fearless, I'd say. Probably should get errata'd.

The Fearless trait also means you have to make WP checks to back down from combat, yes? Simple immunity/resistance to fear would be better, and wouldn't apply that penalty, meaning it's a different ability, though slightly.

Given that, I'd think there is more wiggle room in here- I could see an argument (though a stretch) that being unafraid doesn't mean you won't fall back or displace without regard for regimental order (every man for himself kind of thing), or perhaps as Siranui mentions dissapate into the warp.

Personally I feel From Beyond should convey an immunity to breaking/pinning (and I'm pretty sure demons like that in TT are simply 'immune to psycology' meaning they never make break checks, is that correct?) if applied to a horde though- the additional mag damage done with all of the marine special powers could, instead of representing morale damage, simply represent the whole instability thing.
