House rulebook posted

By Emirikol, in WFRP House Rules

I've posted my preliminary house rulebook (on the bottom of the gallery page). It contains:

* Expanded racial origins

* Expanded advanced careers using basic career templates, plus a talent slot, and the themes from the Career compendium

* Expanded equipment lists

It is /NOT/ yet complete, but I wanted to post it for your thoughts. It still has formatting to be done and i'm changing the background (and adding more artwork for my home game..which I won't post ;)

Very good so far and they look incredible. HOW do you make them look so great. I have a background for mine as well, but yours are just fantastic looking. Any tips are welcome to make something that great. Would love to present our rules to the group and have them stare in awe at the pure awesomeness of the layout aplauso.gif

The rules are solid as well and simple so they don't add complexity. Good work :)

I think the background is something that we extracted back in the day when we first saw it :) I'm going to go with someting that will be easier on the printer though.

Would it be possible to find a copy of that background somehow... :)

I tried to open it and there's a bunch of xml files. How can I read them?

The file name is: JAYS WFRP HOUSE RULEBOOK3 _Autosaved_docx

Rename the file extension .docx

There shouldn't be any xml files.

Also, here it is again in my dropbox file: dl.dropbox.com/u/167876/JAYS%20WFRP%20HOUSE%20RULEBOOK3%20_Autosaved_.docx

It's supposed to have the Dominion and Dominion Small Caps fonts for ideal viewing, but irrelevant for content at this point. When it is finished, I'll do it up in PDF.

Really well made to say the least. One thing though I've come across that could be improved is the Ogre race rules. I find them hard to read and I can't see any wound threshold for Ogres anywhere.

I think I will implement some of this in my game. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the feedback. I"m going to change the background to something more printer friendly..and add more ogre stuff.

Great! Now I was able to open it and the rules do seem very interesting. Thanks for sharing your work...

I've nearly finished the house rulebook. It concerns itself mainly with stuff for the PLAYERS and not so much on RAW tweaks. dl.dropbox.com/u/167876/WFRP3%20house%20rulebook%203%20watermark.docx

Latest version includes:

Upkeep: wasting your money for x.p.

The cost of Superior and Blue-Die superior items (as well as how to do it)

To do:

Finish organization listings (and how to use the nemesis cards for the PLAYERS)

Clean up the Advanced Careers/intermediates section

Clarify the GM's toolkit usage

Incorporate any more feedback y'all have.

Please advise.

Thanks,

Looks great. Fantastic idea for replacement characters - I'm adding that to my rules as well. I have a few suggestions:

  • To make the racial section feel complete I think it could be great to list the stats for all races (the ones from RAW as well).
  • The halfling seems a bit weak with lower stats. Perhaps balance by giving halflings +1 defence. I'd give them 3 agility as well to keep in line with other races - and then a wound threshold of 7+toughness.
  • Your maps on the last page are a bit small.

Updated to near full version: dl.dropbox.com/u/167876/WFRP3%20Hafner%20house%20rulebook%20v1.docx

Any suggestions on ogre abilities?

Maps will be enlarged or added later (or put in seperate download for players..although I'm leaning towards not letting any noob play a foreigner..I've got a couple players who will make them just to not have to have any usable character background).

I also made the Foreign races and non-humans get one less skill but any one advance instead. I don't actually want all races completely equal.

Version 2.0 posted. All character information complete. I'll have some final clean-up before the end of the month.

All organizations and Basic Career upgrades (such as Grave robber to tomb robber) included.

All that remains is to get my players revved up for Campaign #2 by the end of January :) I'll probably be running 2 campaigns, which should give me motivation to add more background info. My first campaign was set in Nordland and moved to Reikland (for the sake of going forwards with Eye for an eye).

Looks great Jay... You should just put numbers on the pages. Perhaps that's just a personal preference, but I like it if the pages should get mixed up somehow.

Keep them coming ... its a great help to see what everyone else is doing.

Excellent thought.

Thanks,

Version 2.3..yawn... ;)

We'll see if the noobs can keep up. One of the things I've discovered over the years of doing house rulebooks for various game systems is that your players have to understand what the heck you mean. I removed almost all the bonus crap for starting imperials (except the racial bonus..to re-balance the dwarf/elf resistance to disease and corruption, the max 4 stat start for humans, and the poor quality trappings start lists). Everything else is either directly related to game play or is just suggested background material for the players to get a hold of.

Could you provide this last version in Word format?

It would make edition far easier.

Indeed, I like your format very much, I hwever have a different take on some things.
