noob question on rof of fire for weapons

By Hardrainfalling, in Deathwatch Rules Questions

okay really silly question but how many attack rolls do ranged weapons get?

Does a devastator get to roll 10 times a round with a heavy bolter (as one player in my group claims?)

or is it 1 roll but with +20 to hit for full auto and an extra hit for every degree of success?

is this true for burst weapons with the higher rate of fire just adding to hit and using more ammo?

One roll variant is correct. Higher ROF just means that you have a chance of hitting more often. If you have 6 DoS with a Boltgun only 4 shots hit. With the HB all 6 shots would hit.

And: for hit location determination, reverse dice order as normal (ie, 24 becomes 42) for the first shot hitting and for all subsequent hits you have on the DW screen a table that determines the additional hits in a fixed manner (as you already head in DH and RT).

One roll, with the degrees of success determining how many hits.

It's very clearly stated in the rulebook how it works. Page 239.

Remember that's only for autofire. Single shots typically do not gain a damage bonus or additional hits for extra degrees of success on the to hit roll. The exception is when you're using an accurate weapon that is benefitting from the aim action (237 describes the aim action, 142 covers the accurate property of weapons).
