By Brother Nemiel, in Deathwatch Rules Questions

Hey. I've just been given the Deathwatch rulebook as a birthday persent, and am anxious to get started, but I have very little experience of rpgs, especially like this. If anyone could give me usefull advice, please reply. Thank you.

Hello,

and welcome to the Deathwatch Community.

To be honest the question is: What is your question and where do you need some help? How much experience do have at all with roleplaying or with the Warhammer 40k setting.

Do you need some help with the character creation or with some specific rules? The best way to learn playing Deathwatch is by playing it! :) So if you have a local gaming group then ask if you can join them. :)

The more detailed your question the more we can help you! :)

Cheers,

TechVoid.

Fun is more important than getting it 100% right. Yes, you should know the rules well and you should know the mission well as a GM. But especially as a newb mistakes will be made there is no avoiding it.

The main thing is to not to try hard to make it right and lose sight of what actually matters, namely the entertainment of everyone. So the first rule is to constantly pay an eye on the psychology of your players and yourself and tweak the flow of the mission accordingly. The players are bored? Throw something at them. If the players don't take their enemies seriously because they root them out easily? Double the horde sizes. The players are too scared to do anything? Let the light of Emperor auspiciously show them the way. Things are getting too hectic? Slow yourself and everyone else down.

Main thing is to have fun.

Honestly, none what so ever. There is a local gaming group which i'm going to try an dattend as frequently as possible but as i've just started working, might be a bit hard.
