I got the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay Core Set, and i was all excited about the game with all the tons and tons

of tokens, cards, dices. But from what I understand now is FFG re-releasing all the rules again but this time

without all the cards etc. Are the gonna stop supporting the Core-set and just re-release it as a regular RPG

with just books? Did i just shoot my self in the foot for buying the core set?

The short answer: No.

The long answer: They're still doing it the same way, the books add rules clarifications, index's, better explanations and the OPTION of playing without pieces by rolling randomly on a chart.

If you're planning to use the card/tokens/standups you did the the right thing. The components are great in my opinion, and really add to the game. The hardback books together with the vaults will cost you a lot more than the core set.

it is almost worth it just for the dice if you buy it off amazon

I have the core set I recently just purchased the hardback players book. I am extremely happy with both. After looking at all the boxed sets that go with the hard backs the core set is a very good buy.

I also agree the dice for this game are expensive to buy. I keep hoping fantasy flight will put out a dice set like what is in the core set for a semi resonable price (I expect to be gouged a bit) but the current price is just too high for me to swallow.

FYI: I have the dice from the Core Set, one pack of dice, and the dice from the GM's Vault. I find that that is plenty of dice for me+5 players. It's enough to split in half and give each "side" of the table it's own area of dice, with each area having more than enough of each type of die to cover pretty much every roll (with the occasional adding of extra fortune dice on some big-rolls). Even allowing two rolls per side at a time, depending on the dice needed.

Don't worry...you did the right thing with the core set. Great value for all the "bits" you got. Although it may seem redundant, I'd go ahead and get the Player Guide hard cover book anyway...there have been several suppliments released over the last year, and the Player Guide pulls all the game rules into one place, so it's a handy reference.

So you have the core set...if you like it (and you should like the game, it's very good), I would recommend strongly that you get the Creature Guide and the Creature Vault. If you're running a game, these products are indispensible.

The answer is...YES! And that's because it wasn't a stupid move.

I bought the hardbooks after the boxed set, and could care less.

I've found that as a GM, I continually buy nonsense for my games that I don't use. Everything you need is in the boxed set. Focus on the story and that's all that matters!

Truth be told I bought everything out there right now.
