How does the power Wings of Sanguinius works?
You activate it as a fullround action, then sustain it as a halfround action, and then use you last halfround action for move to remain flying?
Isn't it strange for top BA power, to be so useless?

Yeah. I'd house rule it to take a free action to sustain probably. At the very minimum. I'm not fond of the half action to remain in the air rule either.

In the table top game the wing of Sanguinus emulate a jet pack. I think the Deathwatch power is more a "I need to fly to solve this situation" kind of power. Not designed to be used in combat, but to fly when you need and don't have a jetpack.
In tabletop game this power is used by mefistin who has no jumpak, and furiso librarian, who is drednout...
In deathwath BA librarian takes PIlot self at 3 rank for 800 exp. Wings are 5 rank-power which costs 2000. It's strange....
Yet your jetpack can be damaged, out of gas or you didn't take one in your req because the mission was underground or you took something else and didn't have the req point and bad luck you have fly...

The most important point is that I as a GM don't want that. I want a high level BA librarian to be able to fly over the battlefield and slay enemies left and right.
Alex
As a BA librarian player I wish the same )))))))
I House Ruled that as long as you use at least a Half Action to move the power is active thus giving you a half action to work with.

I can't help thinking that that's what they mean't. In other rules sets they say that driving something or piloting something requires at least a half action per turn to actually stay flying but that that counts as your movement, so I get the feeling that's what they were going for (and we should be going for?).
Another case of badly written rules, then.
Interesting that the rules for sustaining a psychic power changed in Deathwatch . In Dark Heresy (pg 164) a power check for a sustainable power is a free action; only has to be made once every 10 rounds (1 minute narrative time); and can not invoke phenomena or perils.
I guess the differences between the rules on the matter in the separate books just goes to show how different in ability a Librarian and an Imperial Psyker really are. But I see little harm in altering the Librarian 's sustain action to be Free. I'd leave the rest of the rules and mechanics as written, though. Librarian s are powerful, but they are not typically as deft in their abilities as some; after all, many of their powers are a great maul compared to most other psychic powers. Hit hard and burn bright.

I send off a question about this (and about the release of an errata). We'll see what the answer will be.

Thank you .
I hope they would FAQ this power to be sustained by free, as the Short range telepaty is. The idea of sustaining all powers fore fri action, to my mind is wrong. DW librarian is powerful mele combatant, if he shoukd be able to sustain his buff powers by free action, he will be unstopable. Do you imagine librarian under might of heros, might of ancients, wings of sunguinius? With pover fist, furrious assault and feat of strength and assasin strike he is about to slay HIve tirant in 1 or 2 rounds....

That's no problem for a Devastator with a Heavy Bolter either. Besides if they don't kill the Hive Tyrant in 1 or 2 rounds, he'll start killing Marines.

Alex,
Did you ever get a response from Ross on this one? I am interested in seeing the official answer here.

No I haven't and if I don't have one by Wednesday, I'll politely inquire again, citing that I am not the only one interested in this.

I know I read this from another thread:
Q: Can you hover in place with a Jump Pack, and not use a move (half-action) in order to do so? flyer on page 132 is implied as a superior form of Hoverer (a trait).
A: Yes, you may hover using a Jump Pack. If you simply wanted to hover in place, it seems reasonable to say that doing so is a free action. Changing direction or altitude would certainly require some kind of move action.
That still doesn't allow us to start unleashing carnage according to RAW.
How would Assassin Strike tie-in with that by the way? It could help you turn into a true Blood Angel Of Death... if you rule that a failed Acrobatics means, you can still use a free action to hover instead.
And guess what? It's among the BA's advances. Hooray!

Still no response, I don't think I'll get one. Would someone else please pose this question to reaffirm interest in an official answer? Also it might be interesting to have an official ruling on using Fate Points to restore Cohesion?
And now word about when the errata will be ready either...
