Grunewald Hunting Lodge - Eye for an Eye

By Sausageman, in WFRP Gamemasters

Does anyone know a decent map/play of the hunting lodge in Eye for an Eye? There's a small half plan on page 81, but it's lacking a floor for a start...

Just wanted one as I thought it would be easier for hte players to track where they were going in their investigation.

Perfect, thanks.

Bit weird this wasn't included in the rulebook to be honest, but whatever...

The reasoning is the same as the rule about distances close, medium etc. instead of 10 meters, 100 meter etc.

They don't want the game to be bogged down by details like this, and if it's possible or not to move from library to courtyard and such.

The game is to be treated as scenes, so the players wants to go from library to front gate, they simply do so, unless the GM thinks it appropriate to have something happen on the way there.

I think it works very well. A player of mine first asked for a map of the manor, and I asked if his char wanted to take the time to draw such a map? They quickly became very happy on how it worked.

You can say this might be extreme, but comming from playing through Death on the Reik, and the large castle there, it was very very refreshing. DotR is a wonderfull campaign piece, but that castle, omg that castle...

Problem is, it's largely investigative in its nature, byt the time you get to the manor - and this sort of investigation, I feel, requires specific details on where people are etc.

Just my opinion, but I wanted a map :)

I have nothing against maps, just don't think they're that important really. To me it risks becoming very static when you pull out maps. My group also never use city/land maps, there's sign-posts and people you can ask for this very purpose. Both type of maps are allways waaaaaay to accurate for my liking, it's like every city, and the Empire hired a squad of Dwarven Gyrocopters to map out their city/lands. Totally unrealistic, such a gyrocopter would have been shot down the second it reached the first small village lengua.gif

But seriously I understand using maps, done so before many times, but I don't miss them either.

That map no longer comes up in the link, anyone got another? Eye for an Eye is the next adventure I'm going to run and a player map would make things a lot better.

Thanks very muchfor the links guys, that map is great! Thank you for your hard work UniversalHead, very much appreciated.

I'm a big fan of your rules summaries, UniversalHead, and this map has proven equally useful. A big thanks from my group.

While I agree that an accurate Lodge map is not necessary to run the game successfully, it doesn't hurt either. ;) I don't agree that world maps are unrealistic, however. There are some very detailed Roman road maps from around the 5th century. I have no trouble believing that the Old World would be accurately mapped out.
