[Weapon Special] Twin Linked

By TechVoid, in Deathwatch Rules Questions

Hello fellow battle-brothers,

not so much as a rule question but just curious if someone uses this special ability of a weapon. Furthermore I wonder which weapon has this ability? I thought that the storm bolter should have it because if I did understand it right these are simply two weapons merged as one.

Since I own now the GM's kit (thanks to the emperor) I found a first weapon, namely the cannons mounted on the thunderbird.

But that's all so far.

Cheers,

TechVoid.

When we get more vehicle rules in 'Rites of War' they'll be a lot more instances, basically it's pretty rare outside of vehicles:

God hammer Lascannons on the Landraider

Las cannons on the Predator Annihilator

Any razor back configuration

Heavybolters, las cannons and autocannons on dreadnoughts.

Also more popular with enemies:

Traitor Terminators have twin linked bolters (or combi weapons) instead of Storm Bolters.

Mega Armoured Nobs have twin linked shootas (again, or combi weapons).

So including it in the mainbook was more like future proofing as it was obvious they were going to need it soon even if it wasn't included on any weapons in the main book.

It's also a hold-over from DH/RT- there are some vehicles, in particular in Into the Storm, that have twin linked weapons. If you want examples just look at the games-workshop site at any of the vehicle models.

And storm bolters are the 'modern' version of the twin linked boltguns, and simply give different stats.

With storm weapons the gap between the barrels is smaller, I think. That's why both are assumed to hit.
