Graf von Jungfreud

By valvorik, in WFRP Gamemasters

Is there any background on the Graf's personality, goals etc.?

Everything I have seen is indirect, from town charter and Auerswald relations issues, suggesting that the Graf is an ambitious, expansionist sort who makes neighbours and even the provincial elector (emperor) nervous. Is there anything more than that known of him?

Also, what does Graf mean exactly?

Graf (feminine Grafin, though I believe WFRP uses Gravin as in the Rough Night in Three Feathers Gravin Maria-Ulrike von Liebewitz ) is ususally rendered into English as Count.

And in the hierarchy of aristocratic titles it should be roughly located above Baron and below Fürst (no idea what the proper translation into English is) and Herzog (Duke). In the German empire there has also been the title “Kurfürst”, which is one of the few aristocrats that has a vote when a new emperor is elected.

(And to do some nitpicking, the female version of Graf would be spelled Gräfin, i.e. with an umlaut. The “a” in Graf is pronounced like the “ea” in heart, the “ä” similar to the “a” in age.) gui%C3%B1o.gif

Ack, all this time I thought Gravin was a name!
