Multiple attacks and combining Furious Assault with Step Aside

By Lucifer216, in Deathwatch Rules Questions

Hi all,

A few quick questions. If I'm using the Two Weapon Wielder trait in conjunction with swift attack for a total of 3 attacks (2 with my main hand and 1 with my off hand), do all three attacks get the -10 to hit as imposed by using Two Weapon Wielder (-20 modified to -10 for having Ambidextrous as a Space Marine). The descriptions for Swift Attack and Lightning attack seem to suggest that they effectively replace the rules for Two Weapon Wielder when using either of them to make a number of attacks.

My second question is whether or not step aside would allow me to attack three times with Furious Assault (when attacking all out, spend a reaction to make another attack with the same modifiers). Step Aside says that the additional reaction it grants can only be used for the purpose of dodging. Is there a difference between spending and using? I could see both sides of the argument, so it would be good to have some opinions on this one, please :) .

1st: Yes all got -10 to attack, if you attack with 2 weapon (once offhand, 2-3 time with main hand). No negative modifier, if you use only one weapon, but you loose one attack from the offhand.

2nd: Game master option, I let them use it as an extra attack if they wish, to increase synergy between the talents.

1) Yes, all attacks suffer the -10.

2) No, the reaction that says it can be used only for parrying and dodging can only be used for parrying and dodging. Without any other talents, gear, squad abilities and other stuff, there's no possibility to use any reaction for anything other than parrying or dodging, so yes, the point of Wall of Steel and Step Aside are that they can only be used to parry or to dodge and not for all the other stuff a reaction can be used for with the right talents.

Cifer is correct.

There is a reason why the text says "can only be used for"

So if you have furious assault and step aside you can do furious assault and then still have a dodge?

Not really...

Furious Assault can only be used when you are making an All Out Attack. All Out Attack prohibits you from using Dodge reactions. So, while having Step Aside gives you an extra reaction that can only be used with Dodge, it's useless if you're making an All Out Attack since it's still a prohibited action.
