Advanced Careers

By Nostromo, in WFRP Gamemasters

Sorry new GM here...

So i have noticed there are Advanced: Intermediate, Advanced: Advanced and Advanced: Elite (Sign of fait) categories of Advanced careers.

Is there a reason for this? Does it actually affect gameplay/leveling up? Can you go from an Advanced: Intermediate to and Advacned: Elite career?

Are there specfic rules aournd this? Thanks!

There is a restriction so that you can only start as a basic career. From there you can move to advanced careers as you like.

However many of the advanced careers will have a special section on the back of the sheet, telling you that you need to complete a specific career before that one.

Indeed, for example wizards and priests are both locked into a "basic-intermediate-advanced" progression.

I have houseruled generally that (in keeping with that template) you should be Rank 2 for intermediate and Rank 3 for advanced.

Basically there are two types of careers: Basic and Advanced

The keywords are just used to align classes. If they kept basic->advanced->advanced->advanced first off it would be free to transition and secondly there wouldn't be an obvious path to follow.

If you do read the backs though, the basic->intermediate->advanced->elite have prerequisite classes in the step before, so it just makes the progression clear without having to read every card back.

Just a simple clever way to string it together in my oppinion.

Ok, thanks guys.

Guess i should have paid attention to the back side of the career sheets i guess :)
