I have no idea what this means.

Mainly that you previously spent more time just stating Space Wolves suck and attacking the strawman of "roleplay vs rollplay" (*) than actually taking the chapter apart and showing what parts you don't like. A point I'd now like to retract and replace with a thank you for contributing to the heart of the topic.

To accuse your opponent of using strawmen when it is clearly not true (I even quoted one of the posts I disagreed with) is a cheap and dishonest strategy. I am too old to find pleasure in internet squabbling anymore, so if winning is this important to you, I cede the field. Congratulations, I guess.

Anyway, Space Wolves fail to get some of the close combat talents they should have gotten. Compare with BA.

I really like the Blood Angels, but I'm not sure that their list of Chapter-specifics should be set as the standard. It's almost too munchy, with a heavy combat-centered focus and too little fluffy stuff. Black Templars and Storm Wardens appear to have more middle of the road approaches.

Everything the Space Wolves get is appropriate (and flavourful) but there should be more - a few hand to hand talents would not be out of place given their background as primitive warriors.

This; I was stunned that the SW tree did not include Swift Attack and TWW for both melee and ballistic. In the TT, every SW has two weapons to fight with in melee (at least during 3rd edition). Instead SW get Wrangling 3 times, wtf is that? Wrangling; really???

Wrangling is what you'd use to ride the big wolf mounts of the 5th edition Space Wolves. I never had them back in my days of 2nd edition, but they must be pretty important these days.

I'm wondering why Space Wolves don't get Resistance (Cold) for 100.

Probably because Fenris is still warm enough for unmodified humans. I'd expect all Space Marines to be trained to be able to survive much colder climates.

We don't actually know that for certain; there's some speculation (courtesy of A Thousand Sons ) that the 'native' population of Fenris are the descendants of genetically-engineered colonists from before the Imperium...

The Space Wolves have reached an unparalleled degree of wolf-association as of their latest codex. If you had a Space Wolf who was like the Adam West and added "wolf-" to every piece of gear (e.g. "wolf-auspex," "wolf-bolt pistol," "wolf-vox") he owned or used wolf as an adjective (e.g. "that's wolfishly good!" or "the orks are wolfingly cunning") then my impression is not that you would be denigrated for going against canon, just that you went for the easy joke.

sh*tty role playing skills... Wow... Well, here's an idea. Don't play the ROLE PLAYING GAME Deathwatch, just play WH40K on the battlemat. It's obviously what this bull is about. If you had wanted to role-play characters, the books fine. Yes, I agree that everyone personal interpretation of their favorite chaper will mean that their favorite chapter got boned while their 'enemy' chapter gets all the benefits that 'my' favored chapter should have. Everything's fine, wait for the errata.

I swear to God, if I see one more of these smug "Well I'm a role player" posts, I'll punch someone in the face over the internet. It is quite possible, you know, to both be an avid role player concerned with his character's background, motivations, fears and desires AND acknowledge the fact that although the SW as written are the Imperium's greatest drunken sheep herders, they do come up somewhat short in the "righteously smiting xenos department" compared to other chapters. Two toughts in one's head at the same time and all that.

Please don't assume that I or anyone else are munchkins for wanting the SW's skill list to match the decades of fluff describing them as capable warriors EVEN compared to other space marines. Also: Please leave the smugness and superiority complex at the door.

Thank you.

I am stating that the individual in questions obviously would rather be playing the tabletop version of the game than the role playing version of the game. And, as I had stated, everyone's favorites will get boned. Besides, who cares? So buy the skills otherwise. The Wolves don't need the game mechanics of the other Chapters to reflect the fluff. Afterall, fluff doesn't have mechanics. You're just bitching about a what? +5 WS or something ridiculous like that? I wasn't being smug or superior earlier either, just trying to help with what may be a perspective issue in regards to the game. But now, I am feeling smug and superior. Thankyou.
