Off-topic - Music

By Nezied, in WFRP Gamemasters

I couldn't find an Off-topic section, so I figured I'd just post it here :)

I'm currently working on my session for tomorrow and I was wondering: What music do you guys listen to while working on your sessions for your PCs

I personally like listening to the calming music from Enya while tinkiing up plots and twists for my PCs to overcome :)

Gimme your feedback, what's your choice, if any?

For my sessions I've recently been playing early Cocteau Twins and Dead can Dance.

The game soundtracks to The Witcher and Dragon Age really fit the Warhammer atmosphere in my opinion and so I tend to listen to those.

Seconding this. gran_risa.gif

The Witcher and games like Oblivion have GREAT background music for RPGs.

For that matter, if you have any PC games installed try to find the music folders: you may find everything that you need for a wide variety of themes/moods.

There is also a very popular company that make specific soundtrack style music for RPG's. I think it's called Midnight Syndicate. Google it and maybe you like what you find.

I would also recommend early Delerium. It was dark and ambient. I believe the Stone Tower was dead on if I remember right........

If Midnight Sundicate works for you, also try Nox Arcana

For the creation of stuff (and even for preparation), I usually have Baroque music playing as it's been shown to aid in creativity and learning.

During gameplay, I usually have my "Gaming Music" playlist shuffling. It consists of the following:

Both new Batman soundtracks

Conan the Barbarian soundtrack

Dawn of War 2 Official soundtrack

Gladiator Soundtrack

Inception Soundtrack

Various tunes from the "Pirates of the Caribbean" soundtracks

A John Williams compilation

Plunkett & Macleane soundtrack

Roar! from Cloverfield

Stardust soundtrack

Various tunes from "The 13th Warrior" soundtrack

Plus assorted other little bibs and bobs from other sources that I thought were suitable for the setting.

Cliffletters,

I love that playlist! Love it!

If you are looking for a more "time" orientated aspect try these;

Julie Fowlis

Celtic woman

Fairport Convention

The Watersons

All are folk music (traditional and contempory) but have great potential to inspire a story or adventure idea.

For enjoyment and RL there are many choices of what to listen to, but I like to listen to something, that could possibly have been played in the tavern the characters were in.

For me usually its something by Jeremy Soule, the man has a talent for making music that just seeps into the room and settles firmly in the background.

After all he did the sound track for: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeremy_Soule
