How many beastman standups?

By Lautrer, in WFRP Gamemasters

Hallo Ladies and gentlemen,

i suppose I "lost" a beastman standup. But I coudn't really find a list with how many standups I should have. I got all WHF3 boxes and found only one standup + one or two wargore standup + 3 selfmade, but this does not count.

So maybe anyone could tell me how much original beastman-standups I should have. A friend of mine has three, so we suppose that he accidently took one.

Ok, i found the rest. There are 9 beastman standups inside the core box!

Sorry for replying to an old post but this is the only search result that came up and nobody else even responded to it. I just bought the core set and unpunched the standups. There are 47 medium sized standups. Most of them are player careers and the rest are single monster standups. How did the OP get 9 Beastmen standups? Does the Creature Vault add more maybe?

I'm wondering what the point of paying for all the components are if all you get is one almost useless standup for each group of monsters. I'm trying to run the "A Day Late, A Shilling Short" scenario which uses Beastmen but I only have one standup to represent all of them. It seems like you'd almost always have more than one of most types of creatures, how do you handle this with only one standup?

TELL ME ABOUT IT!!!! As shallow as it might seem, this was a HUGE disappointment for me when I did a run through by myself after getting the Core Set. When running it for the first time with players, I used what was available in the set and it just fell VERY short from a visual perspective. The players had to make rather drastic shifts to see what the stand up was due to the 2 dimensional aspect.

My solution,…. I realized this was a "Hobby" game, and dove into the hobby. I was determined NOT to let that happen again for the Eye for an Eye campaign, so I set off to recreate the ENTIRE Grunwald lodge scene in full 25mm scale with 3d minis,… THAT was a year and a half ago. I am almost finished too!! I am working on a complete 3d terrain piece for A Day Late and a Shilling Short as well,. the hardest part so far has been finding "dead" horses in 25mm. BUT I think I found them, can't remember where at the moment. The only issue was that the set only came with 1 dead horse and 3 or 4 cows,.. I hate having to buy three or 4 sets just to get the horses,..

At any rate, I feel your pain,.. I am not certain how particular you are, BUT,.. Legendary encounters has a line of pre-painted mini's that don't look too bad on the table for a VERY reasonable price. If you just "converted" a few,…..

Good Luck,.. let us know what solutions you came up with,…. destellos

While we are on this topic, does anyone know where I can find out if GW or FFG has 3d minis of the careers in WFRP3e? I know they have slayers, but what about Roadwardens and merchants etc.? ……. A "set" of minis for EACH expansion would be really nice too. a day late set, an EfaE set,. .. at least the main characters could be included. … I suppose they believe sales could not justify it,….

A modified pit fighter is perfect for the dog trainer, and I found a PERFECT likeness of the dogs,.. they look JUST like the artwork in the book here: http://www.reapermini.com/figurefinder#detail/03326 any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,..

With WFRP3's abstract range system, you don't really need representations for every single enemy. Unless they split up a lot… At least that would be the answer of an FFG-marketing-person, I guess… ;-)

Yes. We abandoned the specifics of the "range system". If my memory serves me correctly, this was the very first aspect of the "new" game that we didn't get along with. I LOVE not having to use a "battle mat" but using a little piece of triangle cardboard - PULEASE!

I know nothing about warhammer fantasy battles, but I did have the opportunity to watch a full match at the game store around the time of the core set purchase. Upon seeing this we decided to adopt this type of movement system. Instead of using a tape measure - YUCK! - we use 1/8" dowels. Each player has two of them; one for close range - 6" and another for medium range - 12". Putting the two together gives us long range and outside of that is extreme range. Of course there are penalties for rough terrain, water etc.

Adopting this has proven quite effective and the players really like the "freedom" feel it offers. NOT having to look at a bunch of little squares on your tabletop is also a benefit. ( 2e players with their battlemaps and movement "spaces" just seems so "boardgame" like burla ) The only problem I have found when using this movement system is when Henchmen are involved. ( I would love to hear from some other GMs on how they handle this ) [ *pause* - going to go read the henchmen rules again as this was the second aspect we dropped. ] Well,.. I suppose we use more of the "henchmen" rules than I thought. --- inititive, lowered wounds, etc. but, we don't keep them together, they use different actions, and I only use ACE for the real tough guys.

I too prefer having one figure for each major opponent. If there is a group of henchmen, we put a paperclip on top for each representative in the group.

For example:

Hi Emirikol,

Just to be certain I understand you correctly; the picture above there are 2 groups of ungors with 5 ungors in each group? GREAT trees by the way. Mind if I ask where you picked them up or where you got the trunk material?

I play it as the actual stand-up is one. Each additional paperclip is an additional henchman. So, yes, there are 5 ungor in each henchman group. I remember playing the DEMO way back when this game came out, and saying "how come there aren't more beastmen stand ups?"

The trees I just got from the local hobby shop. I'm pretty sure they are the Woodland Scenic's brand, which are really cheap. I did the largest trees, middle trees, and then some "pine trees."

The other foliage is that moss that seems to grow all over canada, that is scooped up, pumped full of formaldehyde, stained green and sold to train enthusiasts the world over.

The tallest trunks from woodland scenics are only 6". Some of the trees in your pic look to be considerably taller. This is why I asked. Apart from Timber line ( the most expensive company in the entire world) I have had trouble finding good looking, tall tree trunks. Any possibility of a manufacture stamp on the bottom of the bases ??

The tallest ones I've got are 10" on the table with 8 inch pine trees. I couldn't find a number on the bottom.

Also, the buildings that I use are pre-painted as well (not pictured) by Conflix. They're $20 a piece:
