was the diskwars game also set in the Runebound universe?

I never played Diskwars, but my understanding is "yes and no... mostly no."

Battlemist and Diskwars both shared a universe which was a precursor to the Terrinoth setting. Battlemist was then revamped as Runewars and officially transferred into the Terrinoth universe, bringing some terms and references from BM along with it.

So there are probably some names and terms in Diskwars that have become included in the Terrinoth game universe by way of Runewars. Whether you want to roll Diskwars up into the Runiverse or not because of that is a personal decision. Since I never played it, though, I haven't put any effort into doing so myself.
