Our Dwarf rugby tackled Otto....

By pumpkin, in WFRP Gamemasters

Was playing EfaE last night with a new group and thay are currently investigating the staff around the lodge. We have the obilgatory dwarf and elf in our party and they have the obligatory dwarf/elf relationship; the dwarf can berate, shout and threaten to decapitate the Elf, but no one else can!

After reaching the library, and taking an interest in Otto's book, the majority of the group left the library and headed to the study, with Otto's Bestiary, to try and decipher what he may have been writing.... they had spend a fortune point for a narrative lucky effect and so Otto's scribblings have left faint press marks on the bestiary pages, while leaving the Elf to look for books on history in the library (he loves that sort of thing..).

The elf made the necessary roll to find the heretical books, but also rolled a chaos star, which I decided meant that when the Elf discovered the books, he let out a little yelp of concern, alerting Otto to the fact that the books had been found.

Otto did what any good librarian would do against a single skinny elf trying to take some books; he tried to stop him.

Upon hearing raised voices from the library the rest of the group decided to return, only to see Otto and the Elf struggling over two books (the Elf had made his str roll to keep a tight hold on them so they were going no where)...

At seeing this, the dwarf did what any good dwarf would do upon seeing his Elven friend in trouble, he cried out a battle charge and ran head long into Otto, taking him clean off the floor and across the rooom, landing on top of him and completely winding poor old Otto!

The group then proceeded to intimidate poor Otto, confiscate his books, and got some pertinent information from him regarding how Piersson had got everyone to cover up Von Bruner's disappearance (he didn't spill the beans too much on the current situation, but the group think that Von Bruner's whereabouts is relevant to the story, so mentioning that was enough to stop the threat of violence.. for now!)

By the time they left, where they were going to find a fire into which to chuck the aforementioned books, Otto was nothing more than a sobbing mess in the corner....

When the enevitable fight breaks out later during the ritual, I don't fancy Otto's chances much!

The Dwarf player didn't get it all his own way last night though, during a long an protracted scene, where i had spent the last 10 minutes whispering a conversation between him and the Sister, as to the whereabouts of Korden's hammer and what she thought was going on around the manor, with the player whispering back his response and everyone else around the table sitting quietly and attentively to hear the whispered conversation, I suddenly shouted one of Korden's ramblings at the top of my voice straight at the guys face... he almost jumped up out of his seat (which considering the chits all over the table, could well have been catastrophic! gui%C3%B1o.gif

Korden, who had been quietly dreaming, lying between the two of them, had just woken up, it seems....

Good games.

Thanks! Sounds like a lot of fun.

You got to have a certificate of award for that kind of play :)

One of my players choke-slammed the sister into the side of the Sigmirite temple wall as she reached behind her for the hammer (Dwarf in attendance had just sucesfully rolled a comet in her presence to impress her) to present to the dwarf. I suppose I should take it as a compliment that they were amped up enough by the earlier investigatin' (they'd previously found Otto in the tunnels attempting to hide the two books after they'd missed them earlier).

Otto was the only cultist who survived aEfaE with my group. He sloped off unseen into the forest at the end. I'm looking forward to bringing him back in some random bureaucratic role some time in order to make life difficult for the PCs.

In my group, only Albercht survived. After firing his blunderbuss and killing Pieter the guard, he reconsidered his choices (Pierson was lying dead besides him). He made a quick escape through the window, narrowly avoiding the charging beastmen. He currently bids his time to take revenge on the group that destroyed his beloved cult.
