Another Campaign-start...need advice on adventures hooks

By Ghiacciolo, in WFRP Gamemasters

Hello everyone, you readers! ;)

I'm finally about to start new adventures in the Old World whit some friend, thanks this awesome 3.0 WFRP!!

I would like to star a campaign that roughly follow this path: introductionary adventure -eye 4a eye - gathering storm...we had already played "a day late.." just to explain the new rules, and now i would like to introduce new hand-made characthers whit some short adventure that showcase how fate or just bad luck could transform a bunch of stranger in a party of adventurers.

I'm not sure if to start whit

A. "night in blood" (having the PCs coach broaen and seeking shelter in an absolutely creepy and wrong inn)

B. a simplified version of "rough night..." (mainly the PCs accusation of murder).

This latter seems the best to hook whit TGS, coz i could easly make the real assassin escape and then send the party on his trail until stromdorf. But i would really love to play Eye4aEye before TGS, both because the first adventure of TGS seems too tough for 1xp charachters, and also because i think will be fun to let the things boil down before meeting again Lord Aschaffenberg in upcomings FFG adventures.

Soooo...what could be a good hook from "night in blood" or "rough night" to translate directly in E4aE??? Some help pls!!! :)

SPOILERS.....

Two immediate ideas that spring to mind are for Night in Blood, the cultists could leave some crytic style notes on their person that reference either the Lodge, Von Bruner or perhaps even one of the NPCS of Eye for an Eye as a potential safe haven.

If the PCs have that in thier hands, they could try and find out the Lodge by themselves, and when they get to the next village to ask directions or the like, it is surely mere coincidence that there happens to be someone looking for workers at the lodge staying at the Inn, in fact he has been putting these flyers up all around town....

Listing one of the NPCs might be too much of a give away for the players though, unless it includes the name Aschaffenberg as a red herring, implecating him somehow - perhaps the cultists from a Night of Blood were preparing to attack the lodge and re-locate the painting to their own secret temple and they just list aschaffenberg names as a target!? It might be quite good for the PCs to be unsure if they can trust aschaffenberg initially, perhaps they could even be led to think he and Hendrick are bringing them there to do them harm and the whole job situation for using "out of towners" is a ruse; my players certainly would have concerns along those lines, but then they never trust anyone!

If you prefer to do Rough night, then the Gravin, once the PCs have successfully provided a service to her, may well recommend that the PCs seek out Aschaffenberg, who she has heard is also having his own issues that a group such as the PCs could surely help with.

Again, provided the Inn is realitvely close to Ubersreik (or where-ever you want to Herr Hendrick), it shouldn't be too difficult for the PCs to ask around town about aschaffenberg and find that co-incidentally one of his men is in town looking to employ a group right now...

The second one has the potential for the PCs to start of with a strong trust of aschaffenberg (if you prefer that) based on the fact that the Gravin (whom they presumably trust, at least a little) has reccomended him...

Whoa! good points here!

I like the first one, coz putting the players in costant uncertanty about who is the real good or bad guy is very warhammerish!! :)

Now the only problem is that they are both so valid that i will have hard time chosing one...oh, well...i will let the player or a dice dedice theirs fate!

Thanks Pumpkin!
