Void Forged Brotherhoods (Who's Who in the Kronus Expanse)

By Sigmus_Victus, in Fan Fiction

I was picking though the forums and figured this might be fun, a place for people to post their crews, allies, and foes alike (and Let's not forget the ships of the line that crew them). I'll go first, and remember, the Void is unfathomably large, but the charters granted by the God Emperor often entail ambition greater than the gulf between the long dead stars. > :D

The Righteous Vengeance of Saint Silvianna: Retribution Class Battleship (Refitted for Trade and Exploration)

Lost to the Warp in Late M37, Originally the Dominus Rex, The Righteous Vengeance was discovered by Illuvian Tallock in early M39, head of the Rogue Trader house Tallock, The choice to refit and repair her bankrupted the house and stripped it of all holdings and vessels. Ten Generations later, The Righteous Vengeance of Saint Silvianna cuts her prow across the Void under the command of Rogue Trader L.Caastor Von Tallock. The Most recent in a long line of Tallock's who are working to rebuild their dynasty centuries after Illuvian's folly. While still rebuilding the wealth of Tallock, The recent generations have managed to win a great deal of prestige and notoriety. Thanks in no small part to the Righteous Vengeance of Saint Silvianna, but for all her power, this maiden of the void holds dark secrets that only the insane dare ponder…

The Brotherhood:

Lord L.Caastor Von Tallock, Age 26, Rogue Trader of House Tallock

The Youngest Tallock Ever to lay claim to the Vengence, he inherited command from his father who perished during joint effort between the Tallock Dynasty and Battlefeet Calixis. A death resulted from the betrayal by the Battlefleet, L.Caastor hides his first name in honour of his father, to ask it, to know it, is to have your lifespan measured in days if not less. L.Caastor is reckless, driven by the mad ambition of his Ancestor Illuvian (To whom he greatly resembles.), he seeks to restore The Tallock Dynasty. But unlike his predecessors, he has a ruthless streak far beyond what is normally called for that is only matched by his own ferocious sense of honour. In appearance L.Caastor stands slightly over six foot, his body honed from hours of physical training, he leads from the front lines the Ancient Power-Sword of Tallock in one hand and a Bolt Pistol in the other. His dirty blonde hair is cut short in the style of a undercity ruffian rather than of a nobleman. Ice Grey eyes stare out from a youthful face crossed with a pair of scars, all that remains of a Eldar Warlock who dared stand between him and a prize. Reckless to a Fault, Gaul bordering Heresy, and Ambition hot enough to burn the stars themselves. L.Caastor will see the name of Tallock Restored and exaulted upon the bones of all those who stand before him.

Arch-Militant Deland Ramirez, Age 47 Lord General of House Tallock

Formerly of the imperial guard, Deland was a hero before his boots ever set forth upon the decks of the Vengeance. Recruited by L.Caastor's father to marshal the houses standing forces into something slightly more than Ship Defense force. A master of Ranged Combat and veteran of hundreds of battles, As a member of the imperial guard Deland has fought xenos scum and tratior filth alike. During a Dark Eldar raid on the planet of Caldebera VIII, his regiment was on the verge of being slaughtered if not for the timely intervention of House Tallock, it is to them he and his regiment owe a debt of honour, and to which he is gladly payment. Deland is a middle aged man who has recently received a Juvenat treatment to keep him in common form, a large man standing several inches over six feet his blood red armour and dead eye shot with the heaviest of weapons have granted him the moniker "Bloody Ramirez." His long silver hair is kept in a high ponytail that frames his overly scared face. His left eye is a bionic attachment fitted with a fearful secret. Ramirez was the man who dragged L.Caastor's Fathers broken body from the then ruined bridge after the betrayal by Battlefleet Calixis. His failure to protect the man to whom so much was owed sits heavly on his shoulders, only strengthening his resolve to let nothing harm L.Caastor Von Tallock.

Magos Explorator Helena Andromadies, Age 25, Master of the Machine Cult Aboard the Rightous Vengeance of Saint Silvianna.

The Young Explorator is a prodigy by Mechanius standards, with a near instinctual understanding of the Machine Spirits coupled with a dangerously open mind catapulted this once promising young Magos into the crew of a Rogue Trader. Helena still suffers from the most dangerous part of the weakness of the flesh, her cranial circutry was never fully implanted often leaving her suffering debilitating headaches but allows her to retain most of her reviled humanity. Her human face still intact with minmal visable augmentation allows her to converse freely with the crew as most of her respitory hardware is encased internally. Her appearance is often equated to that of a nearly seven foot tall woman in a "Adamantine Corset." as her self designed augmentations have only refined her divine human form making her often appear to be a wonderfuly baroque animated sculpture. keeping her cowl down she as been mistaken for a Sister of Battle in Power armor on more than one occasion. she has cultivated her long red hair to reach all the way down half past her waist, to which it conceals a pair of tendril like mechandrites that she uses in her work. In addition to her duties maintaining and studying the secrets of the Vengeance, she has gained extensive knowledge of the Divine human form, thus serving as L.Caastor's personal apothecary.

Navigator DeLional Idoni, Age 32, Navigator of the Righteous Vengeance of Saint Silvianna.

Lord Idoni is a young scion of the Magisterial House Idoni, a Tallented Navigator and the last in a long line of Idoni's to serve House Tallock. After two hundred more years before the mast DeLional's house will be free of the debilitating contract that has shackled them to the Tallock. Despite this fact DiLional enjoys a far better relationship with L.Caastor than he did with his father. Both sons of a nobles, DeLional acts often as the older brother, and the voice of wisdom to L.Caastor's firebrand nature. A master of both The Course Untraveled and the Art of Foreshadowing, DeLional has made himself invaluable asset to L.Caastor, and perhaps his truest friend. His family ties run thick however, he would be lying if he never put House Idoni's Interests above those of Tallock. It is also alone within his power to unleash the deadly murder servitors aboard the Vengeance, unknown as their presence is to the rest of the crew. To further his shadow influence the long limed and pale navigator has taken advantage of the fact that after the betrayal by Battlefleet Calixis (Secretly occistraated by House Idoni to free them of their contract) DeLional used much of his personal forture to help recrew the mighty voidship, thus fully half of the Vengence's crew serves a power other than her chartered master, unbeknown to all but the Lord Idioni and no other.

Farseer Andarieal Ael'Lynndare, Age Unknown(Called Youngling by other Eldar), Captured Farse er .

Andarieal was once a powerful and promising Eldar Farseer, until a mission to retrieve a artifact from the Ancient Enemy went sour. Upon exiting the webway, the Farseer and her retinue was confronted by the whole sale excavation of the site by the Forces of Tallock. They did not even have time to retreat before the attack, and even if they did the webway portal was damaged by the right of first fire going to the monkeigh. The only survivor, witnessing the death of her Warlock escourt at L.Caastor's hand, was taken as a living trophy by L.Caastor she now finds herself in his employ. A complex Archeotech device hangs around her neck, binding her once impressive psychic might to only a fraction of what it was. Gravity cuffs fashioned by Magos Andromadies bind her wrists and ankles, with a moments notice from either her or L.Caastor she would be unable to move. In L.Caastor she once though a monster even among his own kind, but to her suprise he listens to her consult far from the eyes and ears of his crew, when in public however she remains chained to his command throne upon the bridge; Small by Even Eldar Standards, her long platinum hair has since lost some of its sheen and her bright green eyes some of their fire. she sits now clad in the tatters of her once luxurious robes and psychoplastic armor all that is left to comfort her of the life she has lost, and the beings she now is forced to work with.

Lady Commander Cassiopeia Rae, Age 23 Void Master and Commander at Arms of House Tallock.

On the Vengeance, L.Caastor's word is law, but beneath him is the Lady Commander, Commander At Arms of House Tallock. the Rae Family has served the Tallock's since before even Illivian Tallock's time. Another youth placed forth by the deaths caused by Battlefleet Calixis's betrayal, but none the less competent if not inexperienced. "Cassi" as she is called by her equals and her lord, has managed to cultivate a terrifying reputation second only to Bloody Ramirez. Fiercly devoted to L.Caastor, she is also his bodyguard, and untold expenses have been placed by the Rae Family Elders into many almost heretical gene treatments and subtle bionics to make her the ultimate shield to the young lord. Her own goals are far more base in nature, there have been dozens if not more members of the Tallock Dynasty that sprang from the women of the Rae Family, though there has not been one in seven generations, She wishes to see this changed as she does share L.Caastor's bed often enough. Cassi is an unassuming woman of roughly five and a half feet, her short red hair is well maintained and her lithe athletic body belies a strength that can, and has torn a Ork in half with her bare hands, showering her porcelain white skin with foul Xeno Ichor.

That's my group I'm currently running with, I Play L.Caastor Von Tallock, our current adventure has us braving the Unbeholden Reaches following rumors of a partially functional STC on a long lost forge world. Against us in the Void is the Heretic Forces of Warsmith Iacthos and the forces of fellow Rogue Trader Marshal Adaldar. I look forward to seeing who else is out there plying the Void between stars that the God Emperor's servants have dubbed the Kronus Expanse!

The Radiance , Dauntless-class Light Cruiser

Originally recovered from a field of wreckage, the Radiance served with distinction with Battlefleet Pacificus and Battlefleet Gothic for five centuries under a number of captains of the Blucher / Ravensburg line. Due to a special relation with the Ecclesiarchy the Radiance was popular as an escort vessel, considered 'blessed' by both crew and fellow captains. She was crippled and boarded in an engagement with Necron forces late in the Gothic War, carrying priceless relics from worlds destroyed by the 12th Black Crusade. The dying act of her captain was to anchor the ship to an asteroid and power down as many as possible systems to deny the Necrons a foothold. While he did not survive, both the ship and many of its crew did, and the Ecclesiarchy promised the vessel to a newly minted Rogue Trader with ties to the Inquisition, Sebastian Horst, due to the nature of the enemy that needed to be vanquished. The Radiance was found with its crew still fighting a desperate holding action, and quickly cleansed of Xenos. Once returned to the Emperor's Light and was succesfully used in a fleet action to break the siege of the Adeptus Mechanicus base orbitting Telestro.

The players are an interesting mix. I choose one of them, Therry, to play the Rogue Trader because he has experience with the world of Warhammer 40k, and he can play the kind of cut-rate, cut-throat Naval Officer that I wanted in this campaign. Tineke, who plays the Arch-Militant, has modeled her entire character after the primer and has no other experience with the universe, which resulted in that she is playing a very dogmatic Imperial servant. Annelies and JW have little experience as well, and I gave them various 40k books to read ( Mechanicus and Relentless , respectively) to get the mood right. Rick was the last player to join - he started out as a guest player as he is an experienced Dark Heresy player, but worked well with the party so he made a new character to join the cast as a regular. We play every two weeks, and the players are raiding both my and each other's book cases as they really got a taste for the Warhammer 40k books. Gaunt's Ghosts and the Sabbat World's Crusade remain favorites, together with the Imperial Infantryman's Uplifting Primer and the Departo Munitorium Manual .

Captain Sebastian Horst, Rogue Trader
Of noble blood and formerly a naval officer on board of the Sword of Purity , Flag Lieutenant Horst gained renown for saving many survivors of the battle that destroyed the Blackstone Fortresses that had been corrupted by Chaos at the height of the Gothic War. This includes what is currently most of his brotherhood. He was decorated and promoted to the rank of Flag-Captain, but due to the nature of the sacrifice of the Sword of Purity he was given an extended administrative leave instead of a new ship. Handpicked by persons unknown for a new Warrant of Trade he’s ambitious, experienced, deliberate and well-versed in Imperial politics. He has recruited three companions to function as his executive staff and many of the crew of the old Sword of Purity to crew his new vessel. He has recovered the Radiance from the Necrons and made her his new flagship.

Lieutenant Ehrhart, Arch-Militant
A by-the-book Imperial Officer, Lieutenant Earhart is the consummate professional Imperial Soldier. Loyal to the creed and never found without her carapace armor, sidearm and Infantryman’s Uplifting Primer, the Lieutenant is currently training the naval armsmen to her satisfaction and has commander over the Radiance’s gun batteries and Lux Imperator, its array of lance weapons. It is known that she has run afoul with the arbites somewhere in her colorful career, but her work in cleansing the Xenos infesting the Radiance and uncovering a gun-racketeering operation sponsored by the Imperial Governor has shown that she is a dedicated career officer and excellent strong arm to Captain Horst.

Magister-Magos Winter, Explorator
As a member of the Adeptus Mechanicus and an Imperial Noble, Explorator Winter still looks reasonably human, even with her pale white skin, blue veins and servo-skull. She has displayed a near-heretical taste for discovering and exploring new technologies, which has led to her placement on first Imperial Navy vessels and now her recruitment by Captain Horst. What time is not spent communing with the machine spirit of ‘her’ new vessel and repairing its systems is spent considering improvements and upgrades. Currently she is still looking into Imperial technology, but she has been eying the Radiance ’s inactive and stasis-sealed Teleportarium ever since they stepped on board. She currently leads the Enginseers on board their vessel and has demonstrated great aptitude with targeting systems, providing extremely accurate information for lance strikes and highly destructive macro-cannon firing patterns.

Ravin Augener, Navis Nobilitate
Navigator Augener is one of the last survivors of his honorable line, having suffered enormous losses during the Gothic War. Many of his kin served on the frontline warships and were subsequently lost as the vessels were destroyed by the forces of the Great Enemy or madness that resulted due to the warp storm surrounding the Gothic Sector. His recruitment by Captain Horst represents one of the last chances of his bloodline to maintain pre-eminence in this sector. He has yet to take the Radiance into the Empyrean, but serves his Captain with startlingly accurate navigational calculations, which not only resulted in recovering the Radiance , but also in plotting a slingshot maneuver past Telestro that utterly surprised the Great Enemy as the flotilla that they were leading seemingly appeared out of nowhere. His other expertise lies with communication and Auspex systems.

Lieutenant Jesco
The newest member of the Radiance crew and career Naval Officer. He first served on the Dominator-class cruiser Warrior under his father, Flag-Captain Jesco, but was placed on the Radiance as part of a deal with Captain Horst to provide an experienced gun crew to replace his depleted crew. His expertise remains unknown, but as part of his fathers plan to increase the fame of the Jesco-dynasty he is sure to bring a few interesting talents to the mix

our group is a motely collection of outcasts, fugitives and heretics. the Rogue trader is a forgotten heir of Haarlock, the bulk of his personal retinue is not human. that said, its going to make for one dark and fast paced RT game.

Xanatov Haarlock, Rogue Trader

born on a pilgrim ship in the middle of a warp storm, Xanatov was considered a Marked child by the ship's Psyker and Navigator groups. the ship's one astropath died fortelling the boy's future, the visions so shocking and vile that his overworked mind simply hemorraged from the stress. this was the beginning of his days as an outcast. left to fend for himself the first chance the ship could reach port to get rid of the child, Xanatov's psychic ability blossomed in him early to help him cope with life in the unforgiving decks of the space station Footfall. Xanatov finally signed on with the Pirate Cruiser Mythic Dawn to make a name for himself. on the ships first warp voyage after young Xanatov had joined its crew, a flicker in the Gellar field caused a host of daemons and other horrors to enter the confines of the ship. Xanatov, at the head of a group of lower deckhands, carved a bloody path to the ship's bridge to the Mythic Dawn out of the warp. upon reaching the Bridge, Xanatov forced open the doors to find his captain possessed by a Daemon, screaming about "the Ghost of Haarlock, who hunts endlessly after the one son he could not kill". in a psychic battle Xanatov had no idea he could wage, the young pirate banished the daemon, tearing apart the host's body in the process. taking the title of captain, Xanatov brought the ship out of the warp, only to be greeted by a contingent of Imperial frigates. contemplating his options, Xanatov was hailed by the contingent's commander, who informed Xanatov that he was, in fact, a Noble of the Haarlock lineage, and that his family's ressurected warrant and meagre wealth would be turned immediately over to his custody. Also, He and the Crew of the Mythic Dawn would be pardoned of all past crimes and misdeeds. hesitantly accepting this generous offer, most of his crew jumped ship after they returned to Footfall. Xanatov wants nothing to do with the ghosts and secrets of his family line, but he has little choice in the matter now.

Magos-Minor Darius Vamorri, Explorator

Born on the Forge world of Ryza, Darius was inducted the Adeptus Mechanicus not long after he reached adulthood. Brilliant and cunning for a techpriest, Darius rose quickly through the ranks of the mechanicus, quickly outstripping his peers and becoming an Arch-Magos of the Omnissiah. However, Darius' progress was tracked by the silent members of the Dark Mechanicus, and when they felt the time was right, they approached Darius to induct him. ever the inquisitive, Darius accepted simply to learn their secrets. It did not take long for Darius to realize his mistake in allying with such wicked individuals. after the slaughter of a host of menials by the Dark Mechanicus, Darius sold out his fallen brothers and sisters to the Canon Adeptus, in exchange for clemency for his association. oddly enough, the Fabricator General of the Machine cult himself stepped in to save the young Darius, granting him a pardon in exchange for his knowledge of the Dark Mechanicus' heretical technology. Darius accepted gladly, but the Tech-Priest in Charge of terminating the members of the Dark mechanicus seethed at the salvation of what he saw as "tainted goods". Darius was then demoted to Magos-minor, and sent to the newly appointed Rogue Trader Xanatov Haarlock to "do the Omnissiah's work amongst the stars". it didnt take one as smart as Darius to know that he would never be welcomed fully back into the Mechanicus after his near-herectical actions. he would have to build his fame elsewhere.

Navarre Obsul, Navigator

Navarre never wanted for anything in his life. Born into a life of luxury that could only be attained by a Navis Nobilite house as great as House Obsul, anything and everything Navarre could have ever wanted to do was offered to him, and any misdeed or crime he commited was forgiven with little question. Yes, Navarre had it easy. he probably would never even have to serve on a starship to aid his family's wealth, despite his gift for readin the empyrean. money just seemed to come to the House Obsul. What Navarre didnt know was that his family's fortune was built on the sale of Xenos artefacts and deals made with daemons written in the blood of the innocent. when the Inquistion came down on House Obsul, Navarre's world was shattered. Forced to flee, lest he be burned at the stake like the rest of his traitorous family, Navarre knew he could not survive on his own in the world, despite his gifts. thinking quickly, Navarre offered to sell his services to the highest bidder. Navarre thought that another Navigator looking for work wouldnt stand out. unfortunately, no one wanted anything to do with a scion of a renegade navis nobilite house, and the only bidder Navarre had offered him little more than sanctuary from the claws fo the Inquistion. cursing his family for the first time in his life, Navarre accepted Xanatov Haarlock's offer and reluctantly stepped onto the deck of the Mythic Dawn

other characters on the way!

Seraphaena Dracul, Arch-militant

Under normal circumstances, Field Marshal Seraphaena would have never left the Adeptus Arbites. Born on a backwater hive world rife with crime and insurrection, "Sera", as she prefers to be called, opted to join the Arbites after her mother and brothers were slain in cold blood after her father could not pay off his debts to a local crime baron. years spent in and out of orphanages and corrupt foster homes turned Sera into a brutal and ruthless, although breath-taking and statuesque, young woman. Still harboring the grief, hatred, and anger towards criminals throughout her childhood, Sera joined up with the Arbites at the first opportunity. With frightening single-mindedness and skill, Sera hunted down every thief, burglar, bandit, murderer, rebel, street tough, and crime lord she set out to dispense her special brand of justice to. Known to criminals and her fellow marshals as Slaughterer Sera, it was said that she had more combat experience than veteran Guardsmen from her homeworld. This fearsome reputation was put to the test when the Criminals from all of the surrounding districts, aided by corrupt Arbitrators, set out to put down the Slaughterer. No one knows exactly what happened, as most of the monitoring Cameras and Presinct cogitator cores were destroyed in the ensuing battle, but what is known is that when combined PDF and Arbites relief forces arrived to the battle at the behest of a distress beacon released from her district, the Slaughter War, as it was later called, was over. every man, woman, and child within the District was dead. All, that is, except for Field Marshal Seraphaena Dracul, who was found still beating the broken, bloody corpse of the Crime baron who had orchestrated the whole attack with a power maul. So crazed was she with Bloodlust that when one of the relief troopers stepped forward to calm her, Sera snapped around with her maul, caving the poor man's skull. the other troopers were forced to put her down with submission rounds. After recovering from the trauma of of War, some three months later, Sera was put before an Arbites tribune. evidence had come down that some of the dead childeren and other alleged innocents had been felled with an Arbites issue power maul, which was said to belong to Sera. Although absolved of these crimes, Sera was stripped of her rank, and asked to leave the Adeptus. As the fates would have it, a slightly more worldy Xanatov Haarlock saw the enraged Sera stomp out into the streets, carrying nothing but a power maul. Smitten by the woman's feral beauty, Haarlock endevoured, against the wishes of his associates, to offer Sera a place aboard his ship, The Mythic Dawn . Although angered at her loss, Sera decided not to return to her apartment, and instead stepped onto the deck of his ship.

This is quite cool. What made you guys think up this stuff?

I would also say the Lady Rae has, unbeknownst to L. Caastor, murdered two other lovers of his who became pregnant by him.
