New units/rules for factions

I want the homing spider Droid
It would make a great centerpiece for your army it would need a big Base though. What do you guys think?

I'd love to have that model or the hellfire tank, both would add a lot of interesting options for the CIS faction

Every army needs a centerpiece unit. Homing Spider Droid for CIS, AT-TE for GAR, AT-AT for empire and... Ewoks for rebels? Give them a Juggernaut? Well 3 out of 4 ain't bad.

I am a GCW player and if I could have any units I wanted it would be:

Probe Droids

AT AT

General Rieekan

Han riding a tauntaun or really specifically Hero vehicle units.

I don't see the AT-AT becoming a usable unit at all, at scale an AT-ST is barely at the knees of an AT-AT. There is a possibility for the AT-TE but that is still unlikely.

Now the Hellfire Tank and the Homing Spider Droid I see as far more likely.

I don't see a problem scaling down the AT-AT to make it usable. They did it for the Super Star Destroyer in Armada. Sure it's not a fair representation of what the SSD actually is, but it's fun to play with and looks beautiful on the table. And there's really nothing more iconic in a Star Wars land battle than the AT-AT. Having a nicely sized one would certainly draw attention to the table and even bring new players to the game.

AT-AT‘s leg should be about the size of the airspeeder. Maybe they shouldn‘t do the AT-AT as a single model, but as 4 legs on medium bases? 😄 👢 👢 👢 👢

As for new units: I think Lando and Kallus will get some troopers connected to them, like Bespin Security and ISB Agents.

Armada is also on a sliding scale in general, whereas Legion so far has remained roughly in a single scale.
Not to mention the AT-AT should have huge blind spots on either side as the weaponry seems stuck in the forward arc, so unfortunately they work best as off field support (Maximize Forward Firepower). The SSD on the other hand, has weapons in all directions, so it is easier to make the points back and harder to avoid.

AT-ATs should still be in Legion. Because its not like Darth Vader makes other factions jealous lmao.

It would be fine even if the AT-AT was just represented in the form of "off field support" and not an actual model.

And yeah thats kindve what Veers' command cards fail badly at representing... But Imperials getting a new generic command card or being able to pay points to get off-board bombardments from an AT-AT each turn would make sense to me.

It could just be a new generic 3-pip command card that lets you place 3 bombardment tokens. And for the next 3 turns, at the beginning of each turn, you choose a bombardment token and every unit within range 1 of the bombardment token suffers a nasty attack with the blast keyword.

Imperials need something good. They suck.

Unrelated to the AT-AT, how would people feel about a keyword for weapons like Armour Pierce that would just guarantee a wound on a vehicle or something with Armour. Just a single wound, so nothing crazy, maybe it is a little weak but just an idea.

A version of pierce that only works on vehicles has been suggested before. Something like Penetrate X (cancel X successful block results when attacking a vehicle)

I think its a good idea because it allows for stronger anti-vehicle weapons without also making those weapons devastating against trooper units.

For example the HH12 couldve gotten Penetrate 1 and that largely wouldve fixed it, whereas decreasing its points cost didnt fix it at all.

I mean, that technically already exists. Impact 1 and Pierce 1 will have that effect in a decently sized dice pool.

If you mean a guarenteed wound just for shooting at the vehicle, then that would be a bit harder to balance, since that could trigger other keywords like Ion in the attack pool.

(Small) Crab droid for CIS

Wookiee Ornithopter for GAR

LAAT/le patrol craft for Empire

and probably Kanan for Rebels (give them another Jedi)

The pierce keyword affects every unit in the game though (that isnt pierce immune). A version of pierce that only affected vehicles could be used much more liberally without having to worry about it being overpowered against characters/troopers.

A new rule like "penetrate X" that's essentially pierce against vehicles only could be put on everything from HH12s to the airspeeder's harpoon and main guns to make them better at anti-armor without making them better against characters/troopers.

It would allow for more specialized anti-armor weapons to be added to the game.

For example, if the Airspeeders main guns were 3 red/3 black, Impact 3, Penetrate 1 its main guns would be 50% better against vehicles with armor. But it wouldnt be any better against characters/troopers. The Airspeeder would feel better as an anti-armor vehicle at least. And if its harpoon had penetrate 1 it might actually get past a red armor save for once.

I am eagerly waiting for them to add Ahsoka to the GAR hopefully as an operative.

dream units for the GAR are the AT-TE or the LAAT gunship.

The only vehicle I can see for the Rebels is a X-wing or Y-wing, rebel forces seemed lacking in ground vehicles and relied on air support.

I like the Homing Spider Droids in the movies/Clone Wars -- but I'm not sure it would be a super fun kit, you know? Especially compared to the gunship and the Hellfire tank. Less character IMO. But I wouldn't stand in the way of anyone who wanted one.

As for other large ground vehicles for the Rebels, there are some ideas in the Star Wars Commander game, and Empire at War.
