Solo only ?

By Dentifrice, in Legends of the Alliance

Hi,

would you buy this game for solo only ? My main concern is the length of the campaigns.

I understand the campaign in the box doesn’t play solo because you need a player doing the Imperial side.

So now we have the App campaigns but from what I read, they are very short compare to campaign in the core box. 5-6 missions I think ? Considering the game isn’t cheap and I would need to buy two other expansions to have more content... It’s like $250+ to play like 15 missions total (3 campaigns).

I really want to play this game but it seems I can’t find a reasonable reason at that price...

what do you think ?

Each campaign is good for multiple plays when you switch the heroes you use. While you play 5 missions, the Return to Hoth and Jabba's Realm campaign have 6 and 8 missions total, so you won't play them all in a single campaign. And if you add expansions, the previous campaigns become a different experience as well.

Also, there are two raid missions - you can print the maps from the articles if you don't want to get the small-box expansions (and HotE).

You can well start with the core box, and after the couple of plays of the Flight of the Freedom Fighter campaign you can also play the regular core book campaign using user-created solo/co-op variants: https://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/2189979/redjaks-automated-imperial-expanded and https://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/1891360/imperial-directive-soloco-op-campaign-web-app .

It's for you to decide what's worth the cost. (I have everything, I have played around 100 missions with the app, more than I have played in real life and in Play by Forum on BGG.)

Thank you very much !

What is your experience with Imperial Directive ? Works well ? It replaces the DM (Imperial player) ?

I haven't played with Imperial Directive or RAIV, so you'll have to check the threads (or Google for other threads about experiences).
