Basics - standby + crack shot

By Deddog, in Rules

I think there might be more than one scenario this happens

So Casian shots then gets a free standby at the end of his activation. I assume he can only use the standby to move and not complete another attack

Sure he can attack.

A common misconception ist, that each unit has only one attack per round. But it actually has only one attack ACTION per ACTIVATION.

Standby gives you the opportunity of an attack action outside your activation, so it's fine (as is pulling the strings for example).

Also all commandcards which allow extra attacks during the activation (Leia, Veers, Grievous, ... 1-pip) allow you to make those attacks on top of your attack action during the activation since they grant an attack, not an attack action.

With crack shot, Cassian may gain a suppression token and gains a standby. Wouldn't he lose standby because of suppression?

Order matters. You lose standby if you gain a suppression, not for already having suppression.

That is a fantastic point. The rules do say "a unit cannot perform a standby ACTION" if it has performed an attack during its activation." If they get a standby token some other way, then it still works toward standby. Geez, I need to heavily rethink the usefulness of those tokens! XD

It is similar to how the rules prevent you from taking more than one aim or dodge action, but you are able to gain multiples of either from other sources, or other actions. Padme for instance can take the Dodge action and the "Quick Thinking" card action during her activation, granting her two dodge tokens and an aim for other units to spend.
