Reckless diversion and Arsenal x

By Alan Noir, in Rules

When playing against Reckless Diversion - 'When an enemy unit performs an attack, it must attack a trooper unit that has a faceup order token, if able'

Does it mean you must only attack a trooper unit that has a faceup order token? In this instance I did attack them, but had an attack to spare, if you like.

If a mini has arsenal 2 (Boba Fett) but there's only one faceup token in LOS and range, do you have to use both weapons on that target or can you attack the faceup token unit with one attack pool and then another non faceup with a different weapon?

Also, for clarity, it's my understanding that Arsenal x has to be either all the one pool on the one target, or split amongst different targets. You can't attack the same target twice with a different weapon, is that right?

I'm not sure either, but I would agree with you since the RD condition has been fulfilled by your first weapon attack.

Correct. Arsenal doesn't give you additional attacks, only additional weapons that you can use during an attack. Arsenal doesn't change the fact that you can only form one attack pool for each enemy you are attacking with one or multiple weapons.

There is an official answer very similar that applies to this case. In short, you can only use your second weapon on a unit without a faceup order token if that weapon cannot be eligible against that unit. If both weapons met the requirements to attack the unit with the faceup token, then you must use both weapons on that 1 unit.

Question: When attacking an enemy trooper unit that has a face-up order token while the command card Reckless Diversion is in play, can the attacking unit form one attack pool for the enemy trooper unit and form a second attack pool in order to attack a different unit?

Answer: Under most circumstances, the attacking unit cannot do so. The attacking unit, and each mini in that unit, must add all eligible weapons to the attack pool that is targeting the enemy trooper unit with a face-up order token. A unit, or mini, cannot "choose" a weapon that is not eligible to be added to that dice pool if it can add a different weapon that is eligible. The attacking unit can only form a second dice pool if, after first forming a dice pool with all eligible weapons, there are still weapons useable by the unit that were not eligible to be added to the attack pool targeting the enemy trooper unit with a face-up order token.

Ok that's much clearer. I think that's how we played it actually.
