Royal Guard

By TgLoki, in Rules

Hi all. I used to play alot of x wing and have recently taken the plunge into Legion.

I have a alot to learn in general but I can figure most out from the rules. I just wanted one thing clarifying for now about the Imperial Guards. Is it correct that they can only protect (like Biggs) trooper units. So storm troopers and shore troopers. Because on the card it specificaly says trooper units but then in the guard description everywhere else it states to protect a unit.

I get that the Emporer is powerfull enough without someone taking hits for him but its not very thematic if they cant.

Thanks in advanced

The Emporer counts as a trooper unit as does any character with the Trooper key word in the top right of their character card under the picture. This keyword is also key for issuing orders as many command cards refer to Trooper units which means typically any Corp, SF, Operatives and Commanders or other who are classed as Troopers can receive an order.

That clears up so much. Thank you for this quick response. 🙂

FYI Creature Troopers are different.

Creature troopers still count as troopers. They have an extra set of rules and exceptions, but they can definitely receive orders from command cards that specify “troopers” and are eligible for most other effects.

Yes that was misleading. Edited.
