I haven’t read the entire topic so I am sorry if this came up already. I am not really interested in a complete second edition but I would LOVE a complete overhaul of the vehicle combat rules.
What would you like to see from Edge Studios?
I don't know how good it was but wasn't there a d20 Saga KOTOR sourcebook? I 'spose we could use that for splat info until we get official stuff

yup .
Maybe a second round of career books with 3 new specs and 1 new signature ability for each career
another jedi book with 2 new specs (one being librarian) and maybe a second signature ability or maybe a rule for jedi to be dual career (being able to take a FaD career for the purpose of in career spec costs and signature abilities)
Rules to adapt universal specializations to starting specs
Location books (corporate sector, tapani sector)
Era books
A revamp of starship crafting rules (the nubian design collective"s whole vehicle crafting handbook in the aor forum seems like a good place to start), heck I suspect that lightsaber crafting rules could be revised expanded to add a few new hilt types etc
Related to the license but not the rpg I'd like an xwings scale miniature for the kst-100 Kestrel executive light freighter
I'd like the game to be more miniatures friendly...
For example they could hire maps of mastery to make 8 inch square terrain tiles, then what fits within RAW is the current tile is short range, the next 2 tiles are medium range, the next 2 tiles after that is long range, and beyond that is extreme range, you can move anywhere within a tile for 1 maneuver, or move to an adjacent tile for 1 maneuver. I have a 3 sets of maps of mastery night life tiles, and I used them extensively for my long running eote game. But the integration could be a take it or leave it thing.
I suspect that starship combat could be tweaked to work better with miniatures

Not a fan. Does anybody else feel like getting 18-20 more books?

I acknowledge the sentiment, and I think I share it but honestly I don't see another way to make the license worthwhile to edge studios, except a second edition which would mean even more books, but a revised core book and another round of career books seems to me like the way to get the most content with the least amount of new books... edge studios reprints the ffg books... and it should be enought to satisfy the terms of the license while they make the real money on miniatures.

That particular sourcebook is very difficult to find at a reasonable price. Not enough were printed, so it sold out very quickly. (I tried to find a copy less than a year after it came onto the market, to no avail.)

Sort of, but it depends on the content and quality. If Edge Studios have ideas for careers that legitimately improve the experience and don't feel derivative of what exists, then I'd be very much up for it (disclaimer: I have all the books and there are a few I still haven't fully read as no one has played that profession so, YMMV). I think the question for me might be "is there enough white space left to make that valid" but would be interested to see what they can come up with.
so, @micheldebruyn , sorry if you answered this elsewhere but if not career books, what kind are you leaning towards? Era and adventure books?

First Edition reprint will never come, 2e never gets finished and a lot of time and money gets spend into a product with replaces a perfect fine product in the hopes that it will sell better than the 1e. And if does not it might get canned before it is even close to being finished.
There are certainly a few issues that a 2nd edition would bring, just like there are issues with just releasing a new book here and there and doing maybe a revised first edition core books to improve rules clarity.
I mean sure, a 2nd edition would be a great chance to make the system less bloated and the adventures more epic, but how likely is that? And getting completely campaign sets with branching paths would work just fine for 1st edition too. They just need to be good enough to be actually sellers.

I feel more like buying into a good, branching campaign. Though I must admit, I do consider the past adventures lackluster. Just like most of the rules expansions in the career books.

I hear that THE BEST sandrailboxroad campaign ever written is Curse of Strahd apparently 😄
I've heard/read enough about it to consider buying it, reading it and trying to write and plot out something epically similar. I have considered writing a main plot thread for a homebrew, then throw in extra 'side quests' that may or may not impact the main plot. TBH the only way I could do this is reread all the splat and the prewritten stuff... maybe even thread all prewritten stuff together so the players feel each decision is more player led rather than railroaded, and determine which prewritten is the EPIC endgame plot.

I think a book of modular encounters would be better. maybe with advice for various ways to string the encounters together.

agreed, as I said somewhere else in this thread, I think that Star Trek Adventures has the right approach where they are publishing books of modular adventures (although I don't believe they are strung together).
So, here's the thing. If Edge realy do continue the FFG SW game, I would like for them to be successful and make money. The best bet I see there is for them to make 2-3 new SW lines, similar to how FFG did with EotE, AoR, and F&D; that means a new rulebook + 6 career boos + 2-3 adventure books + 1-3 compelations of setting-relevant articles for each "new" SW game. Edge can't make a living reselling FFG (especially if FFG would, rightly, take a cut off those) and likewise, they cannot make a living doing 3-4 books tailor-made for us fans who already owns most of the FFG stuff.
So, I want a full game line for The Force Awakens (or whatever the would do with a proper ST game), one for High Republic, and hellion, let's throw in an Old Republic thing for good measure... In any case, I want several full game line efforts, lest this becomes a silly little folly project.
Come on, Edge! Go all in, please!

The current lines already cover all our bases. Military for AoR, Force for FaD, and fringers for EotE. All you really need for transposing into other eras is splats. I don't think there's really all that much more they can do to have another 36 specs, much less 108. A couple flavored universal specs, maybe a career like the Jedi career from RotS/CotR.
I think their money is really going to be in reprints and the odd era/gameplay splat.

You could just say heck...
Just now, P-47 Thunderbolt said:You could just say heck...
True.
To expand on my point about era splats...
Most of each CRB is duplicated from the others. Mechanically, there isn't all that much that is era contingent. The era splats are basically "conversion packs." They change pretty much all of the era-specific fluff and stats, from vehicles to adversaries to gear to information on the galaxy. You don't need a new line unless it's actually covering a new facet of Star Wars, not just a new time period.

Why would FFG “rightly” take a cut?
FFG and Edge are both imprints of parent company Asmodee. At present, FFG is Asmodee’s tabletop/card game imprint, while Edge is their RPG imprint. Why would one imprint get a cut of the other’s business?

Yup. Asmodee is just rearranging assets. There is an interview with someone who discusses this. It is like a 45 min interview.

That would probably not sell. In fact that would probably piss fans off as they dont see the need for a new edition. And reprints are pure profit.
Now a players guide that updates the vehicle rules and cleans up any other rules would sell. Era books would sell. For a new edition to sell and not seem like a money grab the majority of fans need to see a need.
A modular adventures book seems like a good idea.
Campaigns books that work for all lines would be nice too since we do not have much and adventures do not mix easily between the product lines.
I would love to see some books like Dawn of the Rebellion and Rise of the Separatists covering other eras of play, including KOTOR, High Republic, and the sequel trilogy. In addition, I think there's potential to have a few campaign sets that feature into the time between Jedi and Force Awakens . Maybe a nice box set that covers a New Republic campaign, and another covering a more scum and villainy sort of game. Having setting books like the Corporate Sector would also be pretty nice, as would books that feature specific locales, like Canto Blight or Mos Eisley. How about a book that covers some of the ideas and story in Jedi Fallen Order? Or a tie in to the upcoming Star Wars: Squadrons?
Era sourcebooks: New Republic, Sequel Trilogy, High Republic, Legends material (e.g., KOTOR/TOR, Legacy, Legend-version of New Republic eras).
Regional sourcebooks: Corporate Sector, Unknown Regions (e.g., more on the Chiss).
Organizational sourcebooks: Empire (ISB, COMPNOR, etc.), criminal syndicates.
An "advanced/player's option" book with any necessary rules updates. (For example, there have been some complaints about vehicular combat.)
Two more Jedi specializations, or (for those who insist upon RAW) official rules for Jedi careers also including 2 to 3 trees from the FaD line. (I've always thought that the General tree was a bit odd for non-CW era Jedi.)
Species compendium.
Creature/animal compendium (with a chart ordered by silhouette size, to help those looking for suitable pets/animal companions/mounts).
Planet compendium. If it's just new stuff, at least include a chart telling the reader in which other sourcebooks any previously-described planets can be found. E.g., Geonosis, Kamino, Naboo, and Tatooine are in RotSep, and Coruscant, Dathomir, Felucia, Kashyyyk, Mandalore, and Utapau are in CotR. When there are three "separate" game lines, each with a pile of sourcebooks, then those kind of charts become useful. (And before anyone starts saying that this info can be found on-line: not everyone uses on-line resources, particularly during a game session.)
Adventures: modular and/or campaign-based.
