Onager and Fire Lanes

By Triangular, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Dear Rule-Masters,

what's your opinions and decisions? Does the battery armament of the special weapon apply for the objective Fire Lanes if the Ignition Token is in the Play Area?

If so, what happens if both armaments, standard armament of front hull zone and special weapon would reach to the objective token?

Another interesting question from out of the wiki.

Thanks for bothering...

Tri

From the Fire Lanes text (emphasis added):

Quote

To determine control of each token, players measure attack range and line of sight from each of their ships' hull zones as if performing attacks with battery armament targeting that objective token.

From the Rules Reference, page 2, Armament:

Quote

Each hull zone of a ship has its own battery armament that it uses when the ship attacks from that hull zone.

From the Onager rules:

Quote

A ship's special battery armament and special firing arcs are used only when performing IGNITION attacks.

Putting that together, "special battery armament" is not "battery armament" and is only used when performing Ignition attacks, so does not count for Fire Lanes. You would use only the front hull zone's battery armament, not the special battery armament.

But I can see arguments that "performing attacks" includes "performing ignition attacks" and that "special battery armament" is a type of "battery armament". If the Special Battery Armament does count, you'd probably have to use the Ignition token for determining what dice are used.

Got it right, here.

Yup. You can only use "Battery armament" not "Special battery armament" these two things are not the same.
