Can you do a range attack into a melee?

You can shoot into and (out of) a melee.

You cannot used a ranged attack against a unit you are in melee with.

You cannot shoot into (or out of) an engagement (unless you have a versatile weapon).

Only trooper units can be engaged.

Seems like bad guys should be able to shoot into a melee:

"But Lord Vader, we'll hit our own men!"

"Which part of the order, Open Fire , didn't you understand, commander?"

:)

Or droids. They're expendable, after all.

I would love for that to be either a command card ability or a command upgrade.

Ruthless Tactics

Dark Side or Saw Guerrera Only.

"When performing a ranged attack , unengaged units with face up order tokens can gain one suppression to target an engaged enemy trooper unit. Each surge result on the attack roll deals one damage to the friendly engaged unit."
