Limits?

By Leia Hourglass, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

Does anybody remember anything from legends or canon that they said could not be done with their current science and technology?

Hyperspace tracking.

Oh wait 🤔

Technology marches on , even a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away...

I think you missed the sarcastic gest of it ;)
It was thoroughly explained in The Last Jedi (IIRC)

Make intelligent use of their current science and technology? For just one example: they have perfect human cloning, but Luke (and Vader) can't clone themselves some replacement body parts instead of using that cyborg crap?

Fair enough.

perfect holograms

never seen one in the movies or animated series

they seem to not like networks or non droid AI though they may be do to some story deal rather than not having the tech

Well, as of the Clone Wars, only the Kaminoans really pursued cloning tech.

From what we've seen, there is no cloning "just parts". Which means they'd have to grow an entire clone just to harvest the hand.

Also, while "accelerated growth" exists, it still took 10 years to grow the clone troopers to adulthood. So, it would take 10 years to grow a replacement.

And let's not forget that you can't "turn off" that accelerated growth, so any cloned body parts would age at least twice as fast...

But for what imaginable reasons are only the Kaminoans looking into this? And the Kaminoans aren't even looking into the practical applications of the tech. They just grow complete people. If we can clone a very creepy human ear on a mouse, any Star Wars medical droid should be able to grow Luke a new hand in a petri dish.

So what? You could just get a new one every five years or so and have it replaced.

That's the dichotomy of Star Wars. You can fly across the galaxy in a month (or less), but you can't get good healthcare...

Psst : It was implanted material. It wasn't a cloned ear.

The Polis Massan (according to Strongholds Of Resistance) also researched cloning techniques.
