Grenades and other gear

By Karnage1992, in Rules

So still new to the game and just wanted to clarify how grenade and similar upgrades work.

If I purchase concussion grenades for a unit of Stormtroopers is it added as a weapon to the unit card ie each trooper can choose to throw one. Or is it more like adding in a heavy weapon trooper ie a single model throws the grenade a la 40k?

I'm leaning towards the first interpretation but my searching of the RRD didnt turn up anything concrete.

Every model has access to that weapon and can choose to use it instead of the weapons on the unit card. Also, in case you haven't realized, all keywords with a number stack, so if 3 guys throw Impact Grenades at a target, the attack has Impact 3.

Thanks!

Thought that was how grenades work but everyone I am playing with atm is also learning so it never hurts to double check ๐Ÿ˜‚

I did know that keywords stacks but assumed it was only stacking from different sources (ie two different weapons in the one pool with the same keyword), makes my Speeder bikes a bit more useful.

So if I add a HH-12 stormtrooper to my unit does he have access to all the weapons equiped to the unit as well? like the E-11?

Yes, every time you add a model to a unit it is a copy of the base model on the unit card plus whatever is on the upgrade card.

The Rules Reference Guide section on Upgrades has the rules mentioned above.

Quote

โ€ข Some upgrade cards feature the heavy weapon (๓ฒŠ€) or personnel (๓ฒŠ) icons; these are trooper upgrades.

ยป Trooper upgrades add specific trooper minis to a unit, represented by unique sculpts to easily identify them. These minis always share the defense value, wound threshold, and weapons of the unit card they are equipped to, but may have an additional weapon of their own.

โ€ข Some upgrade cards feature the hard point (๓ฒ‰ธ), grenade (๓ฒ‰พ), armament (๓ฒŠ‰), or crew (๓ฒŠˆ) upgrade icons; these are weapon upgrades. These upgrades do not add any minis to a unit; instead, every mini in that unit may use that weapon when attacking the enemy

Still no problem with double checking that the wordig means what you think it means though!
