R2-D2 secret mission and the landspeeder

By SoonerTed, in Rules

If R2 is in the landspeeder, and the landspeeder gets inside the opponent's deployment zone, does R2 get the victory token?

Or does R2 have to disembark first?

The embark rules say embarked units may not have claimed objective tokens but says nothing about bounty or victory tokens.

R2 has to disembark to use the free card action that would allow him to get the Victory token. It is not a instantaneous effect caused by being in the deployment zone.

Secret Mission is an action (even if it is free) and the only action a unit can do while transported is Disembark:

"While a unit is being transported, it cannot perform any actions except for the disembark action."

So as long as the speeder hasn't taken more than a single move, R2 can disembark, free action secret mission, then embark again all in one activation?

Sorry to ruin your plan again, but no.

One of the dots under "Embark and disembark" on the rules

"A unit cannot both embark and disembark during the same activation."

Not my plan, but wanted to know what might happen if someone else was doing it.

Thanks for the info. I read that a few times and missed that bullet.
