Ignition Attack Fire Backwards?

By KAGE13, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Do you think your ignition attack can fire backwards?
Here is my example. I have line of sight, and its in the Ignition arc. Since I measure from the token can I shoot backwards?

Yes, that is a legal shot. But it’s not really shooting “backwards” per se.

Line of sight and range are still measured from the ship itself. The only thing the token is used for is to help determine which dice are picked up for the dice pool.

You don’t need to measure any line of sight from the token. Just check what range band any part of the target ship is in from the token.

For example, even if part of the target ship is in close range from the ignition token, but the target hull zone is not, you can still gather black dice.

oh ya I see. I get my head caught up in the mechanics, but still technically just shooting from the ship.

Thanks.
