Inspire question

By KarlVonCarstein, in Rules

I've got a question on the wording of the inspire keyword.

P.44 of the rules refrence guide says:

After a unit with the inspire x keyword performs its “Rally”
step, remove a total of up to x suppression tokens from other
friendly units at range 1–2.
• A unit performs its “Rally” step even if it has no
suppression tokens.

I've always read this as each friendly unit at range 1-2 removes x suppression tokens, and my local group all play it this way.

In another thread on this forum someone said that inspire only removes the x value total reguardless of how many suppressed units are in range.

I've never played it that way but after re-reading the RRG I could see either interpretation being used. Which one is correct?

That is the correct usage. Like the quoted section of the RRG says: remove a total of up to x suppression tokens. It does not say from each friendly unit.

We play 2 in total where x = 2

This keeps with X Formula

Having Leia remove 2 suppression from every squad within range 2 feels very OP and discourteous to Krenic after he delivers the Deathstar

It’s a “total” of X suppression. Not X suppression from each unit.

This would make Jyn's trump card useless

I guess we've been playing it wrong then. Thanks everyone.
